So, I'm going to make this as to the point as possible. I'm a former CM, so I know a bit about how the company works, but I'd like some advice from people who have had more experience than me. I've already graduated from college and work full-time, but am looking to change fields.
Part of my frustration with being a CM was the difficulty of upward mobility. There is nothing wrong with front of the line positions, but I simply can't afford to stay in an hourly role for more than 1-2 years. I really loved the company, but had to leave for higher pay.
This leads to my actual question. I'd love to do an IP and am willing to enroll in an online course to make myself eligible. However, I'm a bit worried that not pursuing a B.A. and having a degree not in hospitality will hurt me. Otherwise, I think I'm a pretty strong candidate (as a former CM and I have a fair amount of other work experience). I haven't ruled out the CP as an option to get back into the company working full-time hours (it's pretty hard to get FT right off the bat. I had to go in as PT before), but I really can't use the housing as I already have my own furniture and wouldn't take DU classes, so I'm not sure how the CP would benefit me more than being an ordinary CM. I'm really interested in pursuing being part of the company in a managerial or professional role, what is the best way to go about doing this? If I go in as a front of the line CM, how long should I expect to take to move up in the company? I have no problem paying my dues, so to speak, it is a wonderful and rewarding experience, but that's not where I want to remain. Hope that makes sense. TIA for the assistance.
