We are waiting on orders from the Army...everything has come to a standstill. We are hoping that if we lay low and keep quiet, they will forget about us and leave us here!

DH said if they made him a recruiter, he would run and not turn back! He is actually Active Duty Reserve...he is a full-time soldier for a reserve unit. We would love to stay, but it is out of our hands. We are owned by the Army now!

It would be fun, I think! We could pick a central place in the state, possibly Des Moines (?? am open to suggestions here) and go to a restaurant or wherever and hang out for a few hours. If anyone is interested, please PM me and we can try and get this together!

Yes, I agree with you...I love being in the Midwest for many reasons, but if we could transplant the state further south so we would have nice weather come February, that would be fine with me!

Wow, I must have missed this thread earlier too!

I don't live there now, but I spent the first 13 years of my life in Oelwein.

We were just up by Oelwein this weekend! We are getting a new Labrador puppy from a breeder there. Never had been there before.

There is a book about the methamphetamine epidemic and how it pretty much devastated Oelwein. I was going to look for it and read it. It is called "Methland". I knew meth was bad in south central Iowa, near Ottumwa, but didn't know it affected Oelwein so badly.

ETA: I do wear Black and Gold, not red and white!

I would love a DIS Iowa meet!!!! Meeting others who are as crazy about WDW as I am would be wonderful!!!!!!
