my guess is she put her purse on the floor or something. then when someone went to grab it from the next stall, she tried to grab it back. then the assailant sliced her with the boxcutter. it's just a guess though; i have no idea.

that was my thought also-which is exactly why i hang my purse up-also the hygiene element of leaving purse on the ground.

yup! well for that reason and because i think it's absolutely gross to put my purse on the bathroom floor!

Exactly, I don't bother bringing a purse or anything to the parks. Can't stand carry anything and to me it's just better to have things securely tucked away in my pants pockets.

And since I have also read of people reaching over the door while you were indisposed and yanking the purse off the hook, I wrap my purse strap around the hook at least once.

I wear a cross-body strap bag which never needs to come off. I just turn the bag to the front when I use the bathroom.

Sadly criminals get everywhere.

I have two thoughts on this.

#1 How gross to put your purse on the floor

#2 I don't know what's up with Universal lately but it just seems like they are handling everything wrong. A woman gets attacked and they are light on security. Now I get that there shouldn't be cameras in a bathroom, lol, but really? She got an offer of two free tickets. WOW! *insert sarcastic tone* That was the best they can do?

Guess after they let so many people in to HHN that lines were 120 minutes long I am a bit bitter with them at the moment. I've had APs now for a couple years but seriously reconsidering anymore.

I feel bad for that woman.

It all sounds very bizarre to me. This all happened in the middle of the afternoon? Wonder which bathroom it was at.

And who said that they were short on security...someone in the gift shop? Hmmmm......did that imply that the response was slow or that just in general that more security would have prevented the incident? Not sure what the security had to do with it. And there was no HHN that night.

Huh! She had to be bleeding alot. She required 27 stitches in her arm, finger, and ankle. All that blood, no one noticed, and she didn't bother to tell anyone until an hour later?

How crazy is that, but it really can happen anywhere. I normally carry a backpack, but I have a toddler in middle of potty training the potty seat is in it. When we are at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg I normally hand it off to my husband. This makes me think a locker maybe a good thing. I hope they paid for her medical bills though. I can't imagine how painful that would be. I guess when we go next month I will just be a bit more careful. I will have to show our exchange student the article. She thinks I'm a bit over protective, but as a former parole officer I just see things In a different light. These kids come here thinking all Americans are rich and it's all sunshine and lollipops..lol.

you have to wonder, especially since moving around would cause what you'd think would be a good amount of blood loss...hard not for somebody to notice and report to security.

but, you'd also expect a reputable newspaper would to run a background check on somebody before reporting to the public such a weird story for liability reasons and, if merely to weed out wack jobs or slip and fall sort of scam artists.
