We'll be done in Orlando for a week during our honeymoon. We'll be at Disney, but we're going to spend a day at US and IOA. FI is a huge Spiderman fan so of course we will be at the character breakfast. I wanted to know is it buffet or a plated meal and what are the other characters that are there? I've been scared of the Hulk since I was a kid, lol, so I need to be warned if he'll be there.

I forgot to ask, does anyone know how far in advance you can make reservations? I just called the number and got the recording.
Thanks

Hi - we did the Spidey breakfast three weeks ago and he was AMAZING!!! My 4 year old spent about 15 mins just listening to him with his eyes like saucers and his mouth wide open with Spidey telling him how he needed DS's help to save the world by being a good boy for his mom and dad and to behave really well - he really was fantastic!!::yes:: ::yes::

It was a buffet and to be honest the food wasn't great (but we may have been spoilt by the Kitchens breakfast!!:goodvibes ) - but character interaction more than made up for it!!:thumbsup2

I rang about 2 months out and they seemed surprised that I rang so early!!! And when we got to IOA we were about half an hour early for our slot but we went in anyway, and they easily accomodated us - so you should be fine!!

i took my boys to this buffet for the characters years back.

it is not known for the food, but for the interactions of the characters with the guests there.

my boys were in awe when spidey spoke.
the got the biggest kick out of that.

i should have slipped thing 1 and 2 and spidey some $$ to tell my boys they should pick up their toys at home more.......big chance and i blew it...

thing 1 & 2 would empty the sugar packs and make a little mess on the table for my 3 boys amusement. but, my boys have them licked on messing up a place, hands down

How much for the character breakfast? How does it compare to Chef Mickeys?

I can't remember the exact cost but they can quote you when you call
to make res.

To be completly honest, I thought Disney's food was way better
We didn't do Chef Mickey's, we did the Crystal Palace for breakfast and
thought their food was amazing.
But the character interaction, especially Spidey was really goos at IOA
I still think it's worth doing :thumbsup2

Note: Milk and juice are NOT included in price of the buffet.

Like other said, the food is just some breakfast items, nothing special but good enough. The characters are worth the price for sure. This is the best character interaction we've been to at any dining experiance. Both times we've gone to this meal spidey was a riot and did a fantastic job and the place was mostly empty. Last meal there were about 10 tables at the most.

all the guests get loads of attention from the characters at the ioa breakfast.

you won't get that at any disney character breakfast.

the interactions with the characters with your family is what is so great about it.
if you want something special said to the kids by the characters, let the tm's there be aware of it.

Ahh macraven...you know we love you, but we do and have gotten loads of attention at disney breakfast. Its not always that great, but there is never an empty seat in the dining room. I've had some fantastic character interactions at disney meals. Of course any character that can talk is always much better, so the Castle meals and 1900 park fare have been great. Actually the Fairy godmother and mad hatter stand out as two great interactions.

What is the # to make reservations for this meal. I just found out today that I can go to US and IOA for nothing and I am wondering if I should do it, because I really wanted to go to MGM for the characters. This might make up for it.

i didn't mean to compare the two park character buffets.
i guess i should qualify my statement on that.

i have done the disney character meals plenty of times.
did 4 of them again last september.
i do disney first on my trips and then transfer over to UO hotels and do 5 days at universal.

i can't imagine going to orlando and not doing both parks.

the interactions i have had with the disney characters are not lengthy.
the cm will take a pic with your camera with the characters ie: crystal palace, chef mickey, 1900 park faire, etc. (those are the main 3 i have done) the characters will stay with you for a very short time and then make the rounds. i don't think we had more than 3-4 minutes with them on a one on one situation except for picture taking. (oh and garden grill for lunch character meal i have been to.)
if you are at the resturant for an hour, the characters will make their way back to you at the disney spots.

at the confisco spidey breakfast at ioa, they stay with you for a longer time.
we had spidey sit with us and on our table for a straight 15 minutes. and he still came back to visit us after he went to over tables.
thing 1 and 2 and cat in the hat gave us the same time.
as long as we were sitting at the cafe, the characters continued to return to us and visit.

i think universal does it that way so you don't tell everyone how the food is just mediocre.... you are with the characters so long, that is the high point and remembrance of the breakfast....

we were there for almost 2 hours and had more than we needed time with the characters.

also, the universal char. break. is much much smaller table seating wise.

less people so more time with the characters.

since it is a small setting, universal has the characters with the guests the entire time while the buffet is going on.

i hope i cleared that up.
yes, both parks do characters and have involvement but we have been more fortunate with the universal character breakfast.
and since i have 4 boys, spidey, dr. seuss characters were more of a draw to my family.

it is all personal preference. if you have boys or girls or just adults in your group, the favorite characters of yours will make the breakfast event more exciting to you.

i would never want anyone to think i was being rude to you on my first comment. sorry if it sounded that way.

i'm just a gal that has loved dr seuss characters all my life.
the adventures with spidey came from having boys.......:rolleyes1

this makes me wonder if the Simpsons will have the same amount of interaction....especially since none of them talk. kinda want to do this one now, too! lol

very well put mac...i feel the same way. smaller restaurant and the tm's make sure the characters visit everyone for a lot of time ::yes::

407-224-4012. When are you going for your trip? I called to see how far in advance they take reservations and they have a calendar open for up to October.

The Simpsons breakfast can only be book one week in advance. I think the Spiderman breakfast will take reservations a few weeks in advance.

nothing new to say - just wanted to echo what Bubba's mom and Macraven said - Disney is great but Spiderman was by far and away the best character interaction we have ever had (and that from going to character breakfasts for almost 30 years!!!) :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

As prevously said the food was forgettable and certainly doesn't come close to Crystal Palace (french toast - yummy!!) but my little boys face when spiderman was talking to him (again for 15 mins plus!!) was worth it every time!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Is the food what kids will eat, at least? Give me an idea, even though you are all saying "forgettable". THings like waffles, bacon, yogurt, fruit?

Well from memory (as I say it was forgettable!!:rotfl2: ) - but I believe they had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, 'green eggs and ham' bagels, 2 or 3 types of muffins, some fruit (not alot as I recall), waffles (don't think there were pancakes), and one (possibly two) types of cereal.

No one went hungry, but we weren't blown away either - but perhaps we were just spoilt by buffets at The Kitchen and Crystal Palace - I would guess there was half the choice of what we found at the other two. Hope that helps a little!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

THat does help, thanks. Breakfast is actually my kids' favorite meal, and DH's too. I can go without it myself, but they typically eat good at breakfast. I hate to spend a lot and have us still be hungry, but it sounds like they would have plenty. They like the waffles and bacon, especially.
