Invite for Grand Disney Firsts: VGC, March 27-29

I will be there for the event on Thursday evening! I am anxiously waiting to find out what are the great incentives. My husband took two days off of work so that we could go, I hope it will be worth it! I will report back Thursday late evening!

Fabulous! WELCOME :welcome: to the DIS, you will make yourself immediately very popular! Are you a current owner? The incentives may be slightly different for current vs. new (in terms of point levels to qualify), so if you can find out both, we'll be eternally grateful! Have fun!

We'll be there tonite too. Wasn't going to go because of finances, BUT my DH said let's go...so maybe he's thinking "Grandpa needs the "house in DCA" afterall" :goodvibes A friend that works with Disney promotions says that this event from Thursday to Sunday is suppose to be good. Cross your fingers everyone and put that pixie dust on my DH for an nice add - on.

Hey thanks to everyone who is offering to post the details after the Thursday night presentation. I'm leaving from northern California in a couple of hours. We're driving most of the way tonight but staying overnight along the grapevine. The place we are staying has internet access so I'll be signing on after we check in (around midnight) to see what the scoop is on the event promotion/incentives. We contracted for 200 points under the current incentives but I'm hoping that this trip down will be worth a rewrite of our contracts when I attend the presentation Saturday night. Thanks again.....:goodvibes

I called my guide at WDW to purchase a 200 point add-on (4 x 50pts) at VGC. He wrote it up under the current incentives (I'm not a founding member so can't actually purchase until Thursday). I will be attending the Saturday, 7 pm, presentation. I'm hoping for better incentives. He said that if I want to re-write the contract after the presentation, that a guide there can access the contract and re-write it with the new incentives. I would just wait and do the whole thing there on Saturday night, but I got a bit nervous about there being points for my use year still available. Anyone else doing this too?? :goodvibes

DH and I did the same thing. We had a contract written up yesterday (we are members at SSR). We will be attending the event on Sunday night. Our guide said the same thing...if the incentives improve, we have the option to rewrite th contract. We added on 125 points :yay: so our incentive is the 4 night Wonder cruise. We'd like to use it 12/13 and tack on a trip to the "World" and MVMCP.

Kids: The kids were off in a supervised room where they could play games, color, watch videos, etc. during the presentation. Afterwards Mickey & Minnei, Aladdin, the Genie, and Tinker Bell came out. There was a dance party with refreshments.

We were hoping for more of a family-friendly presentation, like they do on the Magic. Do you know if it was optional for the kids to go in the supervised room or a requirement? Thanks

Hey, it looks to me like the incentives for 200 might be worth it. Not for 100, for me, being in the east, I'd rather have the DPs so I'm going to do the deal with my guide today in FL. But let us know what you decide. Drive safely!

Are these the incentives for new members, because where's the $100 gc at 160 pts as well as the RCI vacation? Are you at PPH right now?

Your 160 point level should be at 100, while your 200 should be at 160. Just back from GC last night.

No, my point values are correct - these are incentives for NEW members. We didn't attend the member presentation.

320 Points:

$9/point off

7-nite RCI vacation

2 APs (Disneyland)

1 night in Mickey Penthouse or Pirate Suite @ Disneyland Hotel

Either: An Adventures By Disney tour for 2 (only select locations available)

OR

A 3-nite Grand CA vacation + 2 nites @ Fairmont or Hotel del Coronado

500 Point new member incentive = all the stuff from 320 points, except the big vacation choice is between ABD (in more locations than are offered at 320 points) or 7 nites at the Grand Wailea Resort in Hawaii.

Well I was really curious what this event would be like, so I thought I'd do a little recap of the session we were in this morning for nonmembers of DVC.

They had classy set-up in one of the ballrooms at Paradise Pier. You got a wristband and a faux leather portfolio containing BLT, VGC, and RCI points charts and a notepad with pen. The lobby area had ride vehicles and vintage photos set up around food stations.

The snack choices were fruit cups or sugary pastries like Danish, chocolate croissants, blueberry coffee cake and Mickey-shaped things that were sorta like Mexican pan dulce.

Inside the ballroom, there were two video screens above a stage anchored by ride vehicles at either end.

At 9am the (newer, younger) Dapper Dans came out and sang four or five songs and did their schtick to warm up the crowd.

Then Deevy See came out and did her schtick before introducing the two hosts, Dave and Joan.

We heard a little history of DVC, watched a video that showed footage of all the DVC resorts, learned about the points system (and won pins for answering questions designed to keep us paying attention to the points charts), and then found out how much all this was going to cost. The last part was a discussion of the incentives for buying in at point levels from 160 to 500 (see posts above).

In between, there were some giveaways for those who filled out info cards. The prizes were:

- Framed Mickey print like the ones on the walls of the BLT rooms
- Framed vintage image of Mickey and Minnie doing the hula
- DVC pins for answering questions about point values
- Framed trio of Disney images of "grand firsts" (it looked like a shot of Disneyland on opening day, a shot of Walt looking at construction of the Burbank studios, and maybe a photo of the old Disneyland entrance sign (I'm guessing on the last two because all three of these images are in the new VGC brochure).

After 1 hour and 45 minutes, they wrapped it up and opened the room divider to reveal Mickey and Minnie and a cocktail party setup (without the cocktails): There was a photo op with Snow white and Dopey, one with Mickey and Minnie, a beverage station, a popcorn cart, and a DJ giving pins for answering Disney trivia questions, and all the leftover pastries had been reassembled on a silver tray.

They told us we could ask questions of the blue-shirted "guides" but these turned out to be runners who took people upstairs to wait in another conference room full of pastries to talk with actual guides. They also had signs directing us out the back of Paradise Pier to the VGC model near the DVC/Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings office.

You've prolly seen the VGC models before, so I'll just include a few pix.

Lurkyloo, thank you VERY much for your detailed review of the VGC event, especially your pictures; I enjoy being able to "visualize" the event!

Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to post your reviews! :goodvibes :) :goodvibes

Got it thanks. Cruise for 4 sounds the better way to go at 160 then 3 nights at the GC.

Amongst all that they showed this video of Deevy See visiting BLT. Maybe y'all have seen it before - first time for me.
