We lived in Mesa, AZ when we planned our Disney wedding!
We sent our actual invitations out about 3 months before the wedding. Prior to that Disney did their save the date letters. We followed those within a couple days with a letter we put together that had information for those not as familiar with Disney as we were, including books to look for, a basic plan of the weekend and gave them contact numbers for DH and I and my parents so they could call with any questions or concerns.
Right before we left we contacted the guests who were coming and gave a more detailed itinerary, where we would be and when, along with the Rehersal information and dinner that followed. At the dinner (everyone was there) we told them about the bus, and what time and where it would pick up at each of the resorts people were staying at.
It helped, we did get lots of calls and emails from friends and family leading up to the wedding.
