Seeking advice and guidance from the knowledgeable Budget Board. :worship:

I have a friend on a supertight budget planning a small, family/close friend wedding. Is there an online site that anyone could recommend for ordering nice invitations as a reasonable cost?

Not sure about this in the US--but we saw just a bride completely blow her invitations budget, and/or her invitations timeline. She had perfectly square shaped invitations to mail at the P.O., and had brought them all in. Postal clerk told her the postage on each invitation would be $2.00 because of the size and shape of the invitations. So--before you purchase your invitations anywhere, be sure you know the postal rates that apply. Poor bride was in tears, it was so sad.

Good advice. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!

Vista print has some really nice simple invitations. I did my daughter's graduation one's on line and they were really nice.

I agree with Vista Print. I did my daughter's communion invitations and they were very pretty and reasonably priced.

My daughter-in-law did their invitations from kits she bought at Michael's. There were lots to choose from and they were beautiful. She even managed to get them on sale!

Yes. Make her own. The last several weddings I went to the people made their own invites...one girl just did them out on Print Shop. I'm engaged and I plan to make my own as well because it seems silly to waste $$ on paying someone else to make the invitations.

My friend who did the print shop ones was able to invite a few extra people because of the money she saved having what some might not consider "nice" invitations. :thumbsup2

No one cares about what the invite looks like. No one else aside from the bride and their parents maybe, is going to keep the invite.

I'll second this. A few years ago I gave a wedding shower for my future SIL, and I made beautiful homemade invitations (think embossed paper, vellum and ribbons), and I was so pleased with them. I even made homemade envelopes. When I took them to the post office, I was shocked to learn that SQUARE envelopes cost extra to mail. I'd already spent so much (time and money) making them that I mailed them anyway . . . but if I had known from the start, I could've easily chosen a different shape.

I disagree. The invitation IS a keepsake for lots of people, and it sets the tone for the whole wedding. YOU might not care about them much, but lots of people do. I have a box with wedding invitations alllll the way back to just after high school when my first of my friends were married.

If you use this link, scroll down to the invites one:

I just put wedding invites in my cart. 30 for $18.74, that includes envelopes, you get to pick glossy or matte, there are DOZENS to choose from. 'Slow' shipping they say can take up to a month but I always have everything within 14 days. Around $7.00

I love vista prints, I order all my invites from there because they are so nice and reasonably priced! For my son's baptism we ordered the invitations, banner, and cards for the favors! Now it's time for his first birthday and I received an e-mail for free shipping with a $30 purchase!

We got ours from rexcraft.com

They were cheaper than we could have made them. Of course, that was 5 years ago...

I use Vistaprint all the time for my business printing, they are extremely reasonable and have free offers all the time.

I don't know where your located but if you have tjmax near you the bought out a bunch of inventory from martha stewart craft. I know they had wedding invitations.

I have used invitations by you a few times (I think iby.com)

DSis has used tinyprints.com more recently

both were good prices and quality products
