Invitation Wording for Halloween Invite/costumes

Ok, so I'm at a loss for words here <--- Literally!

Our at-Home reception is Halloween themed and we are encouraging people to wear costumes.

As of now - I have the following Wording on the RSVP

'Halloween Costumes are encouraged, but Sunday Best is acceptable as well.'

I'm kind of thinking this sounds a bit snooty. How should should I word this? Anyone have any suggestions? I'm open.

Also, It's on the RSVP, the entire invitation set screams Halloween, but do you think i should put it on the invite itself instead?

If it were me, I'd try to make it funny so you avoid the snooty-ness.


Clothing is strongly encouraged. Costumes are strongly encouraged. If you don't have either, wear your Sunday Best.
