Invisible posts....what's up with that?

Ok, At first I thought I was crazy, and I still may be! On occasion while reading a thread there will be what seems to be a random comment that pertains to nothing that I see in the thread, then someone else will post a message with a quote in it that I can find nowhere in the thread.

Does this mean that the poster whose posts I cannot see has blocked me? I thought blocking was so they wouldn't see what "I" posted, not the other way around. Or does it go both ways? If someone blocks you neither of you can see the other posts? Just curious. Thanks!

I have no idea how it works here but I know if you are blocked on Facebook it is a two way street. Neither of you will see anything the other posts. Even if someone shares their status you will not see that.

Not saying that is the answer or reason but I would imagine blocking would work the same way here, where neither of you can see anything the other posts.

Since you can see that users name can you do a search for them? See if you can find any recent posts from them. if so I'd assume you aren't block from there I'd think it's a disboards glitch.

Putting someone on ignore will result in you not seeing what they post. Since the software change, it also means you won't see their post as someone else's quote.

It has no impact on whether they can see what you post. You cannot control what others see, as that choice is up to them.

If someone you have on ignore posts something, there will be a small "show hidden content" message on the right toward the bottom of the page. You can click on it to show what they posted.

I have no one on ignore or blocked. Life's too short for me to get that worked up about posts on a Dis board

Since you can see that users name can you do a search for them?

Ok, just went to find the the post that had the "hidden" quote in it to search for the poster and there are like a dozen posts that magically appeared! Must have just been a glitch in the system. Things make MUCH more sense now, LOL!

I just assumed the "quoted" person altered or deleted the post after the quote was grabbed. Kind of the whole reasoning behind the "rule"

That sounds like a mod was cleaning house.
