If I have a problem with inventory control and all you can do is fax that department, who could I direct my complaint to. Any advise or direction fellow DISer's?

HUH?????????? what are you trying to control?????????what's your inventory???

Invertory Control is a system set up by DLC to request a reservation on a first fax request basis, prior to the room becomming available for booking on-line or phone.

a little bit more info needed:confused: what are you talking about???

Lets say you wanted to book a room for a date in 2005 but they have not open reservations for that specific date yet. Well, you can request the room by fax to Inventory Control. It is then dated and recored. Basically, first request wins. Thats my understanding.

well that is WAY out of my league :) I would guess call DCL directly and ask for inventory control? I had never heard of it.
Good luck :)

OK, so I guess we're all still a little baffled here.... maybe Barb & Tony can help??? or Michelle???

Why don't you just fax your complaint to that department and address it to "Supervisor" ??

hmm,,, then I would try the link Cathy suggested...

I'm curious as to the nature of your complaint. Also, it doesn't seem reasonable that they'd hold cabins before the booking window opens.

Dean,
DCL does take faxed requests at inventory control to request staterooms and sailing dates that have not been released yet. I have, as a travel agent, made many faxed requests for guests. Most are for categories 1 & 2. DCL will contact me when the dates are released to see whether the guests is still interested and then they request a deposit.

This came to light during the thread about the Xmas 10 day because some people were upset about not getting Cat 1, 2 and 3 as they were 'booked already' on the first morning they opened up. Some people brought up that "Oh yeah, of course you can put your name on a request for unopened dates..." When we called DCL on this, they said it was not their policy to 'hold' rooms, but did say for Cat 1 and 2 (not sure about 3) you can fax a request and they will notify you when it becomes open. DCL has been very inconsistent on this topic. It seems, like most other customer relations, it depends on who you talk to.

I wasn't doubting they did it, only stating that it was not reasonable. It's improper IMO.

They definitely do it for Category 3. My TA did this for cabin 8032 for my next cruises--we are cruising Eastern/Western back-to-back and wanted to be in that cabin for both cruises. So she faxed them because they weren't booking those dates yet. The day they opened them up, she got a call asking if we still wanted the weeks in that cabin, and she booked it for us.

This is common practice in the industry, although I don't know if they take these requests only from TA's or not--that very well might be the case. It doesn't cost more to use a TA for a cruise, if you use AAA (like I do) you actualy get free soda mugs and a gift from them as well, so there's some savings there.
