I'm trying to decide between the two and besides the obvious price difference I'm wondering if anyone can give me any help? Is the interaction better at one? Is Inventions worth the extra? I think it'd be about 8/8.30 I'd book for so would that time be particularly busy at either one? I'm hoping to get my character fix in this meal to avoid the park scrums so if theres more characters at one then that would be good to know too :)
Oh and its for 2 adults :goodvibes

I've been to Cafe Mickey and Inventions, but we only did Inventions at lunch when there were no characters, so can't help with characters at dinner there. At Cafe Mickey we saw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip n Dale, Tigger and possible more I can't remember, but there was lots of interaction and it was great fun. The food is very different so it depends what you like, the buffet at Inventions is amaaaazing, but it depends how much you eat as if you're not big eaters it's probably not worth the price (if you are though, go for it, as there's loads of yummy stuff and the desserts are amazing). The food at Cafe Mickey is general pizza and pasta, but it is really nice and good quality IMO. I think both will be quite busy at that time, but that's not necessarily a bad thing if you've booked in advance!

You'll love which ever you do I'm sure :lovestruc

we have just recently done both so hope my input will help!

inventions is just lovely, calm and sophisticated and wonderful views over the park. i love the disney hotel (although never stayed due to price) so that meal let us have our character interaction, in a fab setting. the food was great although you do need to get up to get it. we saw mickey, chip and dale and pluto.

cafe mickey was really good as well - much better than i thought and of course as the food is served you don't need to get up and there is no risk of you missing characters if you are at the buffet! there were loads of characters, we saw mickey, pluto, giseppe (pinochio's father), captain hook, chip and dale, smee and i think that was it. much more lively but in a fun way.

both places i felt gave the same amount of time from a character interaction point of view.

so which would i choose? that would be really hard to decide, they are both really good placs to eat and i think you'll be happy with either. maybe the biggest difference is calm vs lively and the number of characters would be a way to decide.

fab! enjoy x

It is hard to pick as we enjoy both. We usually go to one on one holiday and the other the next. This trip it's the turn for Inventions. It's definitely a calmer atmosphere than at Cafe Mickey but we've found the character interaction has been great at both. Perhaps be guided by your appetite - if you have healthy appetites then you'll eat your money's worth at Inventions whereas if you only have small appetites then it might be better to go to Cafe Mickey where you can choose from the menu.

I'm sure you'll like wherever you go - enjoy!! :thumbsup2

We had dinner at both Cafe Mickey and Inventions.

We had such a bad experience in cafe Mickey, that we vowed never to go back there again. Long time waiting to be served (2 hours to get our main course finished, and even then we we had to leave before desert because I had promised DS a swim in the pool before it closed), poor character interaction (characters kept missing out our table) and the food was very average. We complained at the time to the manager, and also when we got back home - to be fair, Disney sent our son a lovely Stitch soft toy as compensation, but I wouldn't go back again. However, we might just have had an off day, so don't let that put you off.

Inventions on the other hand we loved - so much so, that we will probably go back there twice during our stay this year! The character interactions were great (the Genie and Tigger were mucking about lots, plus we also saw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, Dale and Pluto) and we just loved the buffet food - the seafood was especially good. If you like buffets (and we do) then it is the best one we have been to - but I know not everybody likes buffets.

We also found the character interaction at Auberge the best of our trip, so consider that too - although it is a bit on the pricey side without the meal plan vouchers.

Another vote for Inventions. Inventions is alot calmer and the characters refused to meet kids unless they were at their own table when we were there. At Cafe Mickeys our children kept waiting patiently for characters to come round only to find that others kids would come up to them and pull the character away and more often than not the character went. This really annoyed me as I don't understand why parents let their kids do this.

The food at Inventions is fantastic especially if you like sea food. our 7yo daughter must have ate her weight in langoustines.:rotfl:

I would echo what everyone else has said, they are both good for character interaction, but very different experiences. Cafe Mickey was super busy, hectic, loud, but DD danced with Minnie Mouse which she will remember forever! Inventions was much better food wise IMO but you need to be hungry to get value for money as it's not cheap. I think I would be guided by your appetite!! :thumbsup2

Ohhhhh, decisions, decisions...!!! :goodvibes
