So, trying to put together some dining options for our November trip and would really like some advice on the two restaurants?

We did Cafe Mickey last year and while the character interaction was great - the food was average at best.

Budget isn't an issue for this one meal - which would you prefer?

Slowly getting a PTR together which I will finalise over the weekend!!
:cool1:

Thanks!

Inventions. Cafe Mickey last week was definitely average at best. My food was OK. The others weren't terribly happy. And there were only 4 characters on rotation.

If budget isn't an issue then Inventions. However, I will say this with a caveat of it depends when you are going and intend to eat there. I haven't been for a while, but I definitely found that buffets on a weekend (Fri night - Sun) were better than those in the evening mid week. Both for the food choice, replenishment times and the characters we have seen. When we first started going we didn't see a difference, but slowly over the years I found this to be the case. Might be different now perhaps, but I'd bare it in mind.

Also, don't forget about the Sunday brunch if you are around on a Sunday at that time. It is more expensive but rarely do people complain about not having a good time or the food not being up to scratch.

I think Cafe Mickey is OK if you go with the view that you know the food will be at best OK, but are really going to see the characters without the queues in the parks. I don't rate it particularly, but we are going to do this on our next trip for this reason.

GAH! So many decisions!!

We get to Kyriad, late Sunday evening, staying there one night and then transferring to the DLH on the Monday morning first thing. So we'd be dining in Inventions Mon / Tues / Weds - so not on a weekend night at all.......

Will keep pondering.......

We've only done Inventions lunch but that as was on a Monday or Tuesday and it was great.

I think we'll do dinner this trip as with DD with us now we will be meeting as many characters as possible.

We'll probably also do CM for the same reason. But we're certainly not going there for the food. Had 2 meals there and neither were great gastronomically speaking!

Honestly, others may not agree with me. It just seems to me, when the restaurant is quite busy (ie weekends/seasons) they pull out all the stops, I don't feel this is so when it's quieter for some reason! Perhaps it's just less staff both in the restaurant and in the kitchen?

If you have the budget I'd go for it. If I hadn't been several times, I probably wouldn't nit pick and compare so much :rotfl2:.

Actually, aren't they starting character lunches in there sometime soon - for a limited time? This may be worth a try? Not sure of the dates - someone on here will know ;).

I would say if you want to meet characters then go to Cafe Mickey's. The food is expensive and not the greatest but I thought the amount of characters and meeting them without having to deal with a rugby scrum to get close to them made it more than worth the money!

Hey Petals we will be in Disney same time but different continents!!! Have fun :hyper:

Either restaurant is great for the characters but the food at Inventions in my opinion is the best.....love the atmosphere in Cafe Mickey but the food is a bit meh also I hate that even with a reservation you have to wait outside in cold in a q!!!! don't mind a little wait but last year we waited close to an hour!!! On Facebook others seemed surprised when I mentioned a wait outside but 10 trips and everyone with a cafe mickey reservation I have had to wait outside ranging from 20 mins to an hour :furious:After much discussion DD and I are giving Cafe Mickey a miss this year!

I wouldn't wait that long - I'd be inside at the desk asking them whats going on!
I've waited a maximum of 15 minutes outside Cafe Mickey in the queue with a reservation - the CMs have always come out along the queue every few minutes and checked our names and reservation times. Usually we don't wait longer than 5-10 minutes with a reservation.

Us too - height of Summer and only 10 minutes wait. I know our friends got confused and waited in the wrong queue, sometimes it doesn't look like there are two with a huge crowd......

I vote for Inventions. It way better than Cafe Mickey. But this trip we will do Cafe Mickey for character dinner. Inventions comes a little bit too pricey this time.

I'd opt for CM personally. I would Inventions to be a bit of a let down.

Honestly went to desk several times last time as was afraid we would miss our table :confused3 Cm was a harried lady who kept sending me back to the q

Have never had less than 20 minute wait....one breakfast time they had obviously overbooked and we were shepherded to the steak house after 30 minutes wait :confused3

I have always gone back to Cafe Mickey as have always always had a great time once inside.....but this year dd herself said she doesn't fancy it

I was definitely in right q and checked several times....perhaps I was unlucky 10 times - I have always had a great time once in there and this will be our first time giving it a miss....but dd herself has decided not this year ;)
