Inventions ADR advice

We are off to DLP next month and I wanted to book an ADR for inventions to celebrate my daughters 2nd birthday. My question to you is what would be the best time to book and why? The Saturday we wanted to eat at Inventions is the day we wanted to watch the parade so not sure what is best. How long does the parade last? If we didn't book for the first sitting of 6pm would we miss out on character interation or anything else for that matter? Would it be possible to watch the parade quickly from where it starts and still make it to dinner for 6pm? Also hoping I haven't left it to late to book a character meal. Thank you jn advance!

Inventions is one the rare place at Disneyland where I wouldn't mind getting an early or late lunch. Characters are always playing with guests from start to end, food is always replenished fully, staff is friendly all the time…

Though I must confess that I like getting there early to make table requests. I especially like dining in the atrium that is between Invention and California Grill, because the windows there are so gorgeous… the picture of me with Minnie I use as my avatar as been taken in that location, and we arrived just when service started to get a window table!

The parade sometimes follows a reverse route so it would depend on where it was starting from on whether you could then make Inventions. It also depends on the parade timing - if you want to let us know those times we may be able to help more, but you would probably need to know the parade route starting and finishing point. It isn't far away as you're by the entrance to DLH if you are at Town Square.

I agree with cwis - I adore that rotunda bit for Inventions meals. We were lucky enough to go one Christmas and be sat in the large circular table in the window (6 of us), so we overlooked not only the Christmas tree but Main Street and the Castle beyond - it was sooo pretty as it was dark and all lit up! Magical. Inventions is my favourite restaurant at DLRP! And again, it is the one meal I don't want to rush, happy to sit and watch/take part in character interaction etc.
