I'm not new to DIS, but new to this board. I've decided to make a change in my health. I just turned 41 and I am approx 75 pounds overweight. I feel horrible.

I'd love to use this board for encouragement/friendship. But I'm not sure where to start??

I am weighing myself for the first time tomorrow. I probably haven't been on a scale in a year.

Welcome! I think you'll find the people here wonderfully supportive - full of encouragement, kind words and some really great insights!!!

:welcome: One of the hardest obstacles is getting started and it sounds like you are on your weigh!! Losing weight is easy once you are commited, I find the hard part is keeping it off.....but it can be done with hard work, commitment and support. You are in the right place for support and encouragement so stop by often! Good luck in your quest to get healthy, we are rooting for you. :cool1:

Thanks! I've been reading Bob Greene's new book and I like his approach. I know you need to support and my hubby, God bless him, is an enabler. If I'm eating good...he is and that doesn't always fit into his plan, LOL!

I'm a little worried about weighing in tomorrow...I think I'm probably at the heaviest I've ever been (at least I feel like it) and I think the scale will scare me :scared1:

Welcome! I find it really motivating to come to these boards. Usually after reading a few posts I feel motivated to get up and move and stop sitting in front of the computer!! :) There are lots of challenges posted that you are welcome to join as well.

Don't be afraid of seeing what the scale says...Just think of it as the last time your going to see that number!!!

Good luck!

Hello!

This is a great place to bounce back and forth on ideas, motivation, and the ever necessary pat on the back. I feel I have an extended family which takes me as I am, and helps me to be a healthier me.

Good luck with your new commitment!

Wendy

Welcome to WISH Kim!

You can do this! You have found a great place here! You might want to browse the sticky threads at the top to help you get started. Join in on any of the threads, everyone is most welcoming and encouraging. You can start something yourself too. The trick is to come often and post lots!

Don't fear the scale, just get to it and get started. It will take time, set yourself small goals and make them goals you can achieve. Drink more water, walk a little more, anything that you can do will help you gain the power to get through this journey.

My first thought for all of us is to not think of this using that "D" word. Make yourself understand that you are making better choices for you, whatever they may be.

Good luck and let us know how you are progressing.

:yay: :yay: :yay:

Welcome!!! I think these boards are great. Lots of support, that's the best part. I also pick up great bits on recipes and fitness tips. For me, it was about coming to terms with a lifestyle change and not just a diet. Good luck to you, I know what it's like!!!
