I've heard of the W.I.S.H. board for a few months, but haven't had the motivation to really come here, and thus, get into healthy eating and exercise. However, this changed 2.5 weeks ago. I'm really excited to meet all of you! 2.5 weeks ago, I went to Costco and bought two pair of pants that were my size. You can't try clothes on there, so I brought them home and tried them on. They were TOO TIGHT and I couldn't even do them up. Something in me "clicked", and I realized that it was time to make this lifestyle change.

I have some great clothes that I bought 3 years ago when I was quite slim that are basically gathering dust! I'd like to fit into those clothes again by the end of the year. I'd like to lose about 30 - 40 pounds. I'm more focused on fitting into my clothes, rather than the number on the scale.

Two weeks ago, I started my healthy lifestyle. I've done extensive research on nutrition over the years, so I feel quite equipped. I've been exercising 5 days a week (treadmill alternating with taebo), plus evening walks with dh when weather permits. I ease up on the weekends, (so as to prevent binging), but still try to watch portions. I'm trying to lose 2 pounds a week, so I'm reducing calorie intake by 500 calories a day, but still eating enough calories to prevent starvation mode.

I'm not on a diet. I want to eat like this forever. I'm trying to be good during the week, but allow myself some slack on special occasions. My problem is EMOTIONAL EATING!!! I'm hoping that this board is the place for that support that I need (and vice versa). I look forward to reading this board and getting to know all of you and the format of this board. In the meantime, any advice/pointers you might have would be great.

Thanks for reading and best wishes to all of you!!!!

welcome  it sounds like you are off to a good start
I too have problems with emotional eating and am hoping the support from these boards will help. :yay:

Welcome to WISH!

:welcome: :welcome:
You have found the best place for sure! It sounds that you do have the right outlook. I don't have the answer to the emotional eating thing. I struggle with it too. The key is to get back up and keep on keepin' on in the hope that some day it will connect.

Jump in on any thread, start as many as you want. There are many here to help and we depend on each other for help too.

Thank you for the warm welcome! :goodvibes I'm going to really like it hear I think! I mentioned on another thread that I think my DIS addiction is about to get worse!!! ;)

I am totally an emotional eater too :guilty: !
I lost 59.5 pounds since January & I just can't seem to get back into the loss groove. I was hoping that since the pool is now open, I would be able to spend a chunk of time there, do water aerobics & not bring any food with me for temptation, but it has rained for 4 days straight now. I am beating myself up daily for not being able to stick to it.
Sigh..............

HI there! I too am trying to do an entire lifestyle change, and I am getting there. Emotional eating is a danger in my life too. WISH has helped by letting me just communicate my thoughts as in a journal, and to help others and myself by posting good thoughts and encouragement for others. I am amazed at how much giving encouragement has helped me get through those tough days.

Best WISHes to you and great losses!

Wendy

I just discovered a new snack for emotional munchies...dry-roasted edamame! Before you go "yuck!", it's crunchy, salty, tastes a little like pistachios or peanuts, has lots of fiber, and you just can't eat way too much of it cuz it fills you up so quickly (just drink lots of water with it). I'm a big night-time snacker, so this fills the need for me (this week, anyway!). Found it at Trader Joe's.

Hmm, thanks for the tip!! I'll have to try that out. I'm always in the market for new snacks!! :thumbsup2

CJK - welcome to the WISH boards!! your attitude is awesome and it will for sure bring you the rewards you are working towards!!

hang in there - during the hard times come and post and read and chat with us, you are not alone in the emotional eating! i have found that putting my thoughts out there when i'm down and reading a reply or two of encouragment really boosts me up and out of that slump. if i can just get through the first 10-15 mins of that tempting time then i can make it

ONWARD AND DOWNWARD!!!!!

Thanks for the very warm welcome!! You're absolutely right about these boards. I've only been here for a very short time, and already I feel so motivated. I've had a rough couple of days of eating (lots of visiting and socializing), but due to this board, I've kept up with my exercising!!! As you say..........onward and downward!!! Thanks again!! :goodvibes

CJK- It seem like I have talked to you before. :rotfl: :rotfl: We have already had the introductions and you know that I am here for you in anyway possible. You have been doing a wonderful job with the motivation and enthusiasm that you have been able to maintain. Like I just said in that "other" thread, we all have those rough times with "emotional" eating. There is always a strain on making that lifestyle change on everyone. There is no clear cut answer to the emotional eating binging. Just consider it one of those "cheat" days that is vital to your diet every once in a while. Remeber, it is ok to cheat one day a week. You need to have that so you won't go completely off the wagon and so your body won't get stagnate with your diet plan. I know you can do it and I know you will succeed so keep it up!!! :thumbsup2
