A worthwhile visit for an 11 yo boy with a medium interest in ships/planes/military?

I think so. There's also a destroyer and a submarine to see. I haven't been on the Interpid since it was overhauled, but I always enjoy ships, especially carriers (served on two).

Yes. If you've never seen an aircraft carrier close up, it's a real eye opener in terms of the size. It's the size of a shopping mall that floats.

Absolutely. I loved going to it just before it was overhauled. One of my friends was just there a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. There's lots to see. He said they added more planes to the flight deck.

If you're in the area next weekend (Sept. 5-6), admission is free if you have a Bank of America card as per their "Museums on Us" program. It's a nice savings considering adult tickets are $19.50 and youths are $14.50.
