My fiance and i are wanting to get married at WDW in december 06 and just have some questions before we call a wedding cordinator. And also advice from people who have been there done this and can give us the best advice.

We are looking at having probably going to be around 6-8 guests including our minister. So we are thinking this should not be to expensive. It seems reading over disneys website there are so many formalised things you have to do and we are trying to figure out do you get park passes included with your wedding? IS your hotel stay included? do your guests all have to pay to get into the parks? It says a 4 night minum stay is required so does this mean for all your guests as well? Our big question is we want to fly down in march or apirl and met with a dftw cordinator and see all our options and so forth. So if we meet with one we saw on tv that they take you around you get to sample all the food see the parks and they take you and show you all kinds of things but yet it says nothing about a deposit on thier website untill you sign your letter of agreement. We just want to know what we are getting into here and what costs are going to be. It says they start at $3000 but does that actully get you anything or is the cost higher then that? Thanks and sorry for all the questions

welcome to the forum!
first of all, are you thinking of having intimate or custom wedding? because what you described from tv seems to be a custom wedding. and if it's that foodtv program then it's somewhat old from what I remember.
Intimate wedding includes non of what you described (planned site visit, food sampling, hotel, park passes)

but to get you started for a true 2006 intimate wedding package.
4 night hotel stay is required for YOU only. you can stay at any disney property from value/moderate/deluxe, you pay and book that seperately. resort must be booked before disney wedding will let you sign contract.

Park pass is not included.
wedding ceremony does not take place inside the parks so no one needs to pay for park pass.

intimate wedding site visit can be self served. you're free to roam around the resorts..

Intimate wedding is truly a simple and easy ceremony. once you picked out your options, they will take care of the rest. quite frankly all you have to do is show up at the ceremony and let the magic begin :goodvibes

Welcome and hooray for December 2006 brides! princess:

I am an Intimate wedding Bride for December 2006 and we have just sent back our contract. Most of what you saw on TV does not apply to Intimate weddings so it is important to know what you are buying.

An Intimate weding is a great option but it does not fit the bill for a lot of people. It is a simple ceremony and cake and champagne served at one of several locations around the Disney property. All of the sites are open to the public and no planning visit is available. No private dinner is available for Intimate weddings, so no food tasting is offered.

I would go ahead and call Disney now to explore your options and choose which is really right for you. If you are wanting a lot of special touches or a private party, then you would need to book a Custom wedding to get them.

Good luck!

Jennifer

Well we really liked what we saw on the foodtv thing where you get a private dinner the food tasting and all the special attention that they showed on thier program to thier bride and groom. IS that not what you get now? We were really wanting to go down and look at the different places to eat and pick a private dinner and the cake and food and all that stuff.
IT seemed on the show that disney did about everything you could ever ask for thier bride and groom. I guess we are wrong or they do not do that anymore?
If this is a custom wedding then what price do they start at?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the price for Customs start at (these are the minimums to be met with food, floral, etc)$10,000 M-TH, $15,000 for Sun, and $20 Fri and Sat. With a custom wedding you do get the recpetion and cocktail hour following your ceremony. This means that you would get a food tasting.`They can be pricey but Disney does a great job. I do not regrat spending the money that I did.

The show that you saw probably was for a custom wedding as they tend to be more elaborate than intimates. Intimates are a less expensive alternative that can have features added on to enhance them. But with an intimiate you don't get a full reception just cake and a toast. You can check out the sites any time on your own and you can probably inquire about meting with someone to discuss the package as well as sites. HTH.

I think someone mentioned here before (don't remember where) that the Food Network special was taped a long time ago - 3 or 4 years now - and the featured wedding cost around $70,000. If you have that kind of budget, go for it and have fun!!!! I would LOVE to plan something with that kind of budget. (A popular St. Louis baseball saying is "Go Crazy Folks, Go Crazy!)

If not, for just 8 ppl, you will be steered to an intimate. Custom weddings are listed as 10+ people. With a custom, you can get all those perks you wanted as seen on the TV special but you have the minimums outlined above.

Go to the disneyweddings.com website and open up their wish book. It is free and will guide you through both options - intimate and custom - and give you a basic budget for each. Resort stays and park tickets are now seperate from the budget found on the wishbook.

Happy planning!

Chrissie-

One thing to note: Disney will not neccesarily "steer" you to an Intimate for less than 20 guests - they will be more than happy to help you spend the minimums for a small party if you want to go Custom! ;)

While I am having in Intimate with 20 people (including my self and my fi) I know another bride who had a Custom wedding with 8. It's not so much the number of people, it's the number of dollars.
