Just wondering if it is really hot outside for a wedding? I've seen a few when on vacation in the past and I always wonder if people are miserable and sweating! What time would you recommend for an outdoor wedding? Also, at the Yacht Club Gazebo, do you still feel your ceremony is private with people watching from their hotel balconys?? Where are your pictures taken there?

I havent gotten married yet there but did go to WDW in the first week of May. I can tell u that the first part of our visit was very nice weather durning the day and chilly at night. The first night we even went to downtown disney and bought some windbreakers. After about two days of super nice bearable weather it turned extremly hot and we were miserable in the parks. We are planning a vow renewal and an outside one too. I am thinking sunset point maybe but havent decided yet. We are planning on going the same time last week of April first week of May but I may have to bump it up a week or so. Im affraid ill have a heat stroke in my dress!!!. So it may be berable or unbearable. The weather is very unpredictable!! But May versus June, July or August, I would say you would be very miserable in the summer months.

Sunset Point is now only available seasonally and is not available in the summer months due to the heat.

I just found that out today! I was disappointed, they only allow you to marry there October through March! I'm not sure what the best of 3 other options are.

Seabreeze Point looks like a beautiful location... I looked into if for us when we considered inviting more guests, but it wasn't available for our date.

IT'S HOT!!! I got married June 9 at 11:00am at Sea Breeze Point and everyone was hot and sweaty. It's not so bad for the guests, once they are seated in the shade. It is horrible for the bride and groom, who are covered in heavy clothes! I drank a ton of water before the wedding because I was afraid I would faint. I actually broke out in heat rash during the ceremony...haha...not good! My groom was dripping with sweat and I had to wipe his face during the vows...literally drops falling! You can see it in a few of the pictures, as well as my heat rash...haha! We were drenched in sweat and after everyone got back to their rooms...we were peeling off wet clothes. I knew it would be that way and expected it. We had to fix the make-up before pictures from the sweat and I was given make-up to help my groom out with the sweating after the ceremony for the pics...haha! I was just covered in sweat and so was everyone else. My hairstylist was great and prepared my hair for the Florida heat and humidity. I mean...it's Florida...in June....in the middle of the day...so you are gonna be hot! Plus, there is a long walk for the guests and bride to Sea Breeze Point...very long...and the sun was beating down on me! Amazingly, I looked good in all the photos and had a great time. When we got back to our room....the clothes were off and I took a cold shower...then a nap...haha! We had to air out all of our clothes because they were so sweaty!!

It does depend when you are thinking of having the wedding - and what time morning, afternoon or evening!

Im getting married at the Yacht Club Gazebo in December!

We chose the Wilderness Lodge Sunrise Terrace because we wanted an outdoor location and we really wanted more privacy. Our second choice was Seabreeze Point, and it is lovely, but I didn't want people to be able to just walk by and see our ceremony. I suppose people on their balconies at WL could see our wedding, but it would not have been easy because of where the Terrace is situated and it's too high up for people to see from the pool area. There is a balcony above the Terrace that people could look down and see the ceremony but no one was out there during ours. We were married at 3:00 pm, which is the time of the parades in the parks, so most people are still in the parks. It was a perfect time for us as we are not morning people and even for 3:00 I had to get up at 9:00 am to start getting ready. It was in October and there was a breeze, we did not find it hot out at all. But DH and I have lived in FL almost our whole lives, so how hot you think it is outside is relative. Personally, I think August is the hottest month.

I haven't heard of many people get married on the WL terrace, do you have any pictures you could share?? I am sure it is really hot, I would love to do October, but I am a teacher and I would prefer not to take my whole 3 vacation days at once, when I have off all summer!! I feel May of 2007 is too soon, and May of 2008 is too long, so I am just so confused!

disneyjenny i taught at the highschool up until the end of the school year this year. i had the same problem, have u considered spring breake or your christmas breake. both of those times would require no vacation and would be during cooler times of the year.

It is called Sunrise Terrace at the WL. Here are pictures of the terrace.

Some people leave the door on the right side open during the ceremony so the air conditionning cools the terrace down a bit.

I don't think many people get married at the WL Sunrise Terrace and I don't know why? Once we saw it, it was a no-brainer, we knew it would be perfect and it was :thumbsup2

Great pix CA_Stitch! I wish I had seen those, but I lived in Orlando up until a few months before the wedding so I went to it in person several times. Still, those would have been great to show family!

Here are a few pictures from our ceremony. This is from the Disney lo-res CD so they're not the best quality but you get the idea:

I had a friend make bows for the benches and we put tablecloths on the round tables.

The view is breathtaking!

Another view on the Terrace - DH and me and my mom's remembrance rose.

The cake cutting is just inside the WL off the Terrace and our EM kept people from walking through there during our "reception" which made it more private and special.

Here's a pic we took on a site visit last summer.

Gosh I thought it was hot on our wedding day, 1st March this year! It was about 80 degrees at 3pm. I doubt I could have coped if it was any hotter.
We were married at the YC Gazebo, and a few people were watching from their balconies, and I actually thought it was nice. They didn't make any noise, so it wasn't a problem. There was the odd person walking by that would stop to have a peek, and we were congratulated as we walked past them. It was lovely.
We had pictures taken there by the gazebo on the lawn, and some more done by the lighthouse and also in the Yacht Club hotel lobby.

Thanks JandJ. :)

It is a nice and private place for an intimate wedding. Have no idea why it is not more popular. Maybe because it is more remote from the rest of WDW.

depends on the time of year & time of day. for example i would never have an outside wedding in august, its too hot in the afternoon & it showers.

we were married at the yc gazebo march 21st at 1pm, it was perfect. it was warm in the high 80s but there was an awesome breeze & it kept it cool. the enclove/garden area of the yc gazebo makes the space intimate & private. i didnt notice anyone on their balconies & disney does a good job of keeping guests from walking up to your wedding. after our recessional we walked down the boardwalk/dock area of the yc for some more pictures & we got tons of well wishes from guests. we also took pictures all around the yacht club inside & out.

Thanks for all of the pictures, they were beautiful! I really appreciate all of everyone's advice, after a long meeting with the family tonight, I think we've decided on the pavilion because of the heat issue in August. I did consider holiday breaks at school, but i want to have my traditional reception at home during the warm months so we can use a balcony for cocktail hour! We also don't want to wait until Christmas '07.

I would not get married in the Summer...98 degress our wedding day in mid-afternoon, but we didn't have a choice because we wanted to get married around that date and because of our schedules. It worked best for us because I had just graduated college, etc. It would have been much more comfortable in the fall or early spring time...weather wise.
