I was laid off on Friday, July 13 and have been looking for work ever since.

How did it go?

OK, so I interviewed today for a company (no name yet) which is about a 10-15 min drive from my house. They are a company you would know if I mention the name. They are looking for an Administrative Assistant to do payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable, etc. I met with the General Manager & another the person temporarily doing the job now. They are conducting interviews this week and next week and hope to make a decision by the first week of September. It seemed to go well; I was actually pretty relaxed throughout the interview. It is not in the homebuilding arena (which I have been laid off from twice now). The General Manager said that they have been pretty recession proof and that they have not had any layoffs. That's all I know for know. Thank you everybody for your good wishes. I really appreciate them.

Thank you - yes, I know that would be awesome. In January 2009, I was laid off from a homebuilder where I had worked for for 8 years -- it took 16 months to land another job.

In May 2010, I went to work for another homebuilder and the job lasted 2 1/2 years.

I hope I have learned my lesson about staying out of the construction industry.
