My husband and I are considering buying into DVC (well I'm trying to convince him!:) I love going to Disney with my family, but Dh doesn't want to go every yr. So he's open to DVC if we could also use it at other locations every couple yrs. I know not the smarted way to use pts, but...
I went onto the Interval Site, there are a ton of places, but how do I know which resorts/hotels I would be able to book a vacation at? Or is it all of them? How do you know how to convert DVC points to the Interval system? Help please me if you could, I'm very confused, and times ticking away with the Sept 20th incentive date over my head:confused:

One was called the Dreams book..In the back, it lists all the Interval Resorts which as I understand is the top 20% and DVC "ensorses" if you want to call it that..Also, I received with my contract, Disney Vacation Club Vacation Planner 08-09..In the back, it also lists the Interval Resorts. It is called the World Passport collection through Interval International..Folks on this board abbreviate and call it II...

For a 2 BR, peak season is 270 points..Most of the Caribbean all year I believe is basically "peak season"..

For a 1 BR, peak season is 160 points..

Hope this helps! Enjoy planning!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

As you note, not the best way to plan to use points for a number of reasons. II has a website for members which lists the 500 plus resorts in II that DVC members can trade to. You won't know which you can get until you try which usually must be done by getting on a waitlist and hoping you get what you want. You don't need to know anything other than which resort are available and which resorts you want to trade to plus the dates you are interested in, DVC will do the rest and automatically match your choice if it comes up.

I would buy 1/2 the points I need instead of buying with intention of going somewhere else every three years.

If you enjoy timeshares enough I would than buy a resale at another TS company after I spent at least 6 months researching at http://www.tug2.net/

Very wise words. Find a better trading timeshare for those non-Disney trips. And just enough DVC points to get your trips by banking and borrowing.

Thank you for the advice! I will look into the site suggested and talk to Dh about only buying the minimun pts needed for our Disney trips every other yr ok maybe every 3rd yr  that would be sad
Hopefully we can work something out
Thanks again!
