I know that we can trade points in for other destinations through Interval International. My question is: Does that make us members of II ? or can the trading of points only be done through Disney Member Services?

No we are not II members. It can only be done through MS.

Agree and as such you do not have access to the getaways, wish book, bonus weeks or the like. But you have no membership fee and an exchange fee of roughly half that of direct II members. Plus ASAIK, DVC members are the only ones that con do an unrestricted search first for up to 2 years out from requested week.
