Why doesn't Disney have a larger list of hotels to trade out to through II? My SIL owns at another timeshare and was able to trade out to a 5 star Westin resort in Scottsdale, but this hotel is not on our list.

I was told by our guide that Disney only has the top hotels in their list, but how could a 5 star resort not be included? I looked at her book of II hotels, and there is alot of junk in there, but there are some very upper class resorts that we are being left out of using.

Why?? Do you think Disney will ever open it up to include more resorts in the II list?

There's no doubt that there are some II options tha are top notch or otherwise beneficial that are not on the DVC-II list. Based on a number of conversations with brass at DVC along with other information, I'm convinced of several things related to this area.

• DVC is SLOW to add new properties to the option.
• DVC does truly try to have the best in an area (outside Orlando) that has routine availability
• DVC tends to exclude limited availability resorts.
• DVC is very worried about people trading out then being upset that they did not get a DVC type trade.
• And likely most important, DVC wants to retain complete control.

This gives some benefits but far more negatives IMO. To be honest, for a DVC member that plans only to trade out rarely, doesn't want to research and wants to just call and not worry; the current set up is about as low risk as it will get. No yearly costs and only a $75 trade charge. Still, anyone who doesn't research their trade BEFORE accepting it deserves what they get. While many of the trades are great overall, there are frequently circumstances that would make many trades a negative for many members.

For me, I'd rather see DVC just join II and give the members the chance to join or not. While it would generate a yearly membership fee and higher exchanges, it would be FAR better for those that would truly like to trade routinley. IMO, it would move DVC from an ownership not worth trading to one worth trading if used correctly. One would have the chance to trade up in unit size, access to all II resorts, access to cash getaways, etc.
