Interval Inter - Transferring IN to DVC

We gave family members a 5-night DVC vacation with us at SSR next Jan. We are going to get a Grand Villa, since we are paying, not too worried about them canceling. If they do, we have other family ready to go at a moments notice.

Ok - now the parents of the people we invited want to also come along. They have II property in Hawaii and they would use II to stay at SSR as well. Again, not concerned, if they cancel THEY are out the points, not us.

My question is, the II relative said that they book at 13 months. Is that because it takes a few months for them to be able to transfer into DVC points? When will they actually be able to book at SSR? I want to make the ressies together because I'd like to link the reservations. I can't believe that non-dvc members would have first dibs on rooms... I will book at the 11-month window, will the II relatives already have a room assignment? Anyone know? Who would I talk to about this?

I've completed four exchanges for January arrivals into DVC using other timeshare through II. Generally, the earliest I see DVC inventory in II is 9-10 months out for January weeks.

I can't believe that non-dvc members would have first dibs on rooms... I will book at the 11-month window, will the II relatives already have a room assignment?

As an SSR owner, the earliest I can book my January BWV stay is in June. However, I've had the exact week I want booked as early as March via II!

They can start a search for any time up till 2 years out but DVC won't be available until 10 & 3/4 weeks at the earliest. But it might be 5-6 months out before they actually match. Other than for the week that covers the first, a 1 BR at OKW or the SSR should not be difficult if they have sufficient resort quality to get in. If they own a 5* resort, they should be fine. I think you can comfortably plan the trip expecting they'll get a 1 BR at SSR for weeks starting the Sat after the first. Remember ALMOST all weeks for DVC with II start on Sat even though in theory they could start any day of the week. Make sure they do an ongoing search and not just try to get something there when they call.
