Interval Exchange Maui ???

I've used the search feature for information but most of the posts I've found are DVC owners wanting to rent in Hawaii.

Just wondering if anyone had information for the other way around??

We are going to WDW/DCL in October 2007. In-laws just told us they would like to join us. They have either 2 or 4 weeks timeshare for the Kanapali Beach Vacation Resort in Maui (which is on DVC's exchange list) in a one bedroom I believe.

I know how busy October is for BCV and BWV, I was just wondering if they had any hope at all in exchanging their 2 or 4 weeks for a couple of 2 bedrooms at either BCV or BWV??

Should they get on a waiting list now or is it too soon to try to even book it??

Any info at all would be appreciated!!!

Since they want a specific resort within a specific timeframe, they are probably better off either doing a direct trade with a DVC owner or renting their weeks and using the cash to rent at BCV or BWV.

Since they have 1 BR units, they cannot search ongoing for 2 BR units though if they were sitting there on line, they might be able to take them. You might try to a direct exchange with members but to be honest, I'd figure a 1 BR there only worth about 120 DVC points per week for most weeks there. They might be able to get multiple 1 BR units through II but would have to pay the exchange fee and $95 resort services fee for each one. And SSR & OKW are more likely by far.

Thanks for the information! They are not the type to do a direct exchange. I think they would just rather book at Vistana or something.

We are renting points and staying at a DVC resort so I was just hoping they might get on-site and we would join them to make it easier to travel as a family. They are all Disney newbies and have no idea where they are going.

They have 4 weeks in a 1 bedroom so I guess I was hoping that they could exchange their 4 weeks for 2 weeks in a 2-bedroom. Oh well.

That is not the way II works, it's more along the lines of how a points system works.

We will be going down probably October 10th 2007, spending a few days at Universal before heading to WDW for a week then onto the cruise on October 20th 2007.

Will you be down then???

Sorry forgot to add....we will be staying at Royal Pacific for the first 3/4 days then depends on if the family can exchange their 4 weeks at a DVC property. If they do, I am guessing it will be either OKW or SSR.

If they can't get DVC, we will be renting points from a DISer and staying at BCV

Do they know how to do online searches with II? Do they belong to Tug? I think it is possible for them to get a one bedroom but it would require a lot of work on their end. They could put in a pending request for all the resorts they want including the DVCs. If they get a match and it is not DVC then, they can keep it and keep looking for a better DVC unit.

For example, I got a one bedroom at Marriott Ko'Olina in Oahu. I'm hoping at some point a 2 bedroom will become available and I can switch. I know II will charge me again for the change but I think it would be worth it. However, if it doesn't happen, we'll be okay since it is only 4 of us going. We needed a specific week so that's why I took a one bedroom.

They are brand new timeshare owners so they barely know anything about their own timeshare let alone Disney ones!

They are signing papers tomorrow for another week that they just bought and she is going to get started on booking condos for our trip so I guess we'll see what happens.

I am guessing that they won't get DCV but I was secretly hoping.

If they don't get DVC, then we will just rent points (one day we will be able to buy ) at BCV and meet up with them at each park. I was really hoping that we could all be together since they've never been and have no idea where to go and aren't the big planning types.

We will be at DW 10/14-10/22. While there we will be staying at BWV, an awesome villa I might add. If you do plan to go to the world hopefully we could bump into you or plan to meet for a treat (ice cream sound good at beaches and cream etc.). I would make the time to meet you guys if your schedule allows. Our cruise will be in 1/07 on the Magic's western route.

We will be doing Downtown Disney during the day of our MNSSHP day, whatever that may be (10-15-07 ???) so if that fits with your schedule then it sounds like a mini mini mini DIS meet
