Any guesses as to:

1) When we will be allowed to book the shortened stays for Interval via Member Services or online?
2) When we will be able to start staying in Interval resorts for the 3 & 4 night stays
3) Very importantly, how many points the shorter stays will cost?

Thanks DIS!

Forgive me for this because we are still pretty new to the whole DVC thing but what are "Interval resorts"?

TIA :)

don't remember this annoucement - where and when was it?

as a DVC member you are NOT a member of II.

to join II you need another timeshares that allows you to be a member of II. You are paying for II not the timeshare.

It was announced at the Annual Meeting in December. Webmaster Doc reported it here on the Dis. WE will apparently be able to book World Passport stays through Interval International and DVC for stays that are less than 7 days. It is supposed to start sometime in 2008. None of the current point charts that i have seen reflect this change as of yet. I have not received the new planner yet, so I don't know if anything is indicated there. The charts on the member site do not yet reflect this change.

We really don't know much at this point. Given that II hasn't been set up to do exchanges less than 7 days in the past, I wouldn't have much expectations early on. We don't even know for certain it will be through II. Many resorts also are not set up to handle these type of check ins and extra services. Marriott has been rumored to be working on an internal trading system. Some think it will be a points system and some think II will manage it. There are also rumors that II has been planning a points system much like RCI started a few years ago but if they do it'll take a year or two minimum to get it off the ground. Stay tuned.

Interval International is a time share network. In DVC, it is part of the "World Passport" Collection that you are allowed to trade into. Currently, you can trade in for a 7 night stay at these other time shares through Member Services. At this time, we cannot do direct trades via Interval International; all trades must be coordinated through Member Services.

Different points values for different seasons and room sizes, plus a $95 fee for the trade. The trades are at various timeshares in North America, Caribbean and Europe. Not sure if there are resorts in Asia that we can trade into.

Of course, trades occur only if there is availability at the resort you wish to stay in.

HTH :)

Thanks Dean. I'll be waiting patiently (Hah!) for any news.

We haven't even looked at, or even thought of, using our DVC points for anywhere but WDW yet. I'm sure we'll cross that bridge eventually.

It was kind of funny because I work for II & had a DVC member call & want to use us directly. When I gave her the number to DVC Member Services, she said "isn't that the number to MS?"

To make a long story short, she was very angry  because she pays DVC all that money & we wouldn't let her use the services.

I am sorry you had to deal with an angry DVCer at your work! But she should know...it is pretty clear that we can't go through II directly (though that would be my REAL wish!)

Thanks, but it wasn't a big issue......I suppose I got a chuckle out of it because I'm a DVCer too. I always get a kick out of some of the things I hear at work ;)

OTOH, I've had several II customer service reps insist that we could register DVC with II. I finally let one go through the registration process with the expected result.
