Interstate Star extended car warranty

I have been shopping for a new Subaru Forester and I found a dealer offering a free life time car warrany though a company called Interstate National Dealer Services and I think they call the warrany Interstate Star. Does anyone know anything about this company? Also a different dealer is offering free life time oil changes. Which dealer would you pick. I checked on line about the warrany but can't find much info. Ugh, help please! Thanks

I would ask to see a copy of the warranty and see what is actually covered and what are your deductibles/copays. And how long to you expect to keep your car? Or if you cannot see the policy itself, at least get a detailed flyer that indicates what is covered, what are copays/deductibles, and what restrictions there are on locations.

My local Ford dealer charges $20.00, including tax, for an oil and filter change including a large multi-point safety inspection.

Ignore both gimmicks and purchase the car from the dealer who will give you the lowest out the door price. I would contact via email all the dealers in your area asking for a out the door quote on the specific make / model and feature you are looking for.

I have been in the car business since 1993. Anything that is 'Lifetime' is a gimmick. You are buying a great car and don't need to waste your money on these 'extras'. Subaru's are fantastic cars with very little problems. You will be fine with the manufactures warranty. Also, once you purchase the car, you will get lots of coupons in the mail from Subaru and from your selling dealer for discounts on services and oil changes. I just traded in my 2008 Subaru Tribeca and we have owned 7 Subbies through the years.
