I have not seen this post anywher in here so I thought I would start this one.

I have had a lot of people ask me how we get internet service since sometimes we are outside the RV with our laptops online. We have an air card from cingular and it works great it is just slow loading photos. I have heard that Sprint has the best air card service.
I don't have this problem anywhere else but at FW I guess it is because it kind of is in a remote part of town so the strengh is not as good I guess Disney controls that LOL.
You can go to the lodge and get internet service but I think they charge you but I am not sure.
I am sure someone else in here will correct me if I am wrong.

At the end of the day we like to email family and friends and share our day and photos with them via the internet. Sometimes my husband has to do business unfortunately.

So does your husband not get holidays? I know when I go away on holidays WORK is the last thing I think about I am away with family and nothing gets in teh way of that especially work. I leave teh cell phone off the laptop stays home and no one from work even knows how to get ahold of me if it is that important they will have to sort it out themselves as nothing gets in the way of my holidays. I don't think I could ever take a job that would requie me to do work while away with my family no matter what the pay scale etc not even my own business interferes with my holidays. Sorry this post is off topic but I just don't get why people feel they need to WORK while away on holidays.

You can get internet service from FW the same as getting it in the resorts it is 19.00 dollars a day if I remember correctly for highspeed the only places to really get wi fi internet access is at BW that I know of.

Hi Colleen --
That was a very helpful post. A couple visits ago, I had a work emergency (not everybody is as lucky as you, F4 disneyfan -- LOL! :lmao: ) and I ended up taking the launch over to the Contemporary and using their business center. Not the handiest situation by far so I was very pleased to see the addition of high-speed internet access -- last year? the year before? :scratchin -- even if it does cost $19.00/day.

We use a Verizon air card, and were able to get service at FW this past week. It is a bit slower since the signal isn't as strong, but it did work :)
We own our own company and since hubby is the boss, he does have to handle work issues from time to time. I'm not going to complain, we are taking 5 weeks worth of vacations this year so if that means he has to take a couple of calls or jump online to check on things once in awhile, so be it. ;)

Some of the prefered site do have high speed access now. I read that it cost an extra $10.00 per 24hour period.

Can I ask how much these cost? If they are cheaper than the $10/day or $19, it might be worth it. We like to log in every now and then for email or my dh for work.

TIA

I have a sprint card and have to check my ebay auctions while we stay for a week in the summers. It works so much better than the nextel one I had earlier. It runs about $50 a month, plus all those wretched taxes. Since I use the laptop so much outside the house, it is worth it to me. It works just fine in FW and we don't have to use the modems and pay for them at FW.

First let me answer the question to the cost of an air card..... Cingular is running an ad for $49.99 a month which is good because when we took ours out it was $59.99. So if you pay $19.00 per day at the fort it may be worth it for you to invest in an aircard.

We were just at the fort for a week last month and so far no internet service at sites.

As for work and vacation with family we do have our own engineering business and my husband is the one who signs and seals the plans he has to be available it is just a way of life and we all are use to it. But you know what, he makes up for it because we are gone on vacations about 7 weeks out of the year plus many long weekends not counted in on the 7 weeks.

Thanks for the info!

We have much in common! I check my ebay listings too (just got my power seller status yesterday!! woohoo!) And I am a '91 Auburn grad (mechanical engineering). War Eagle!
