My experience was that you get "do it yourself" use of a set of relatively slow terminals in the Internet Cafe. While there was supposed to be some support there periodically, I never saw them and the equipment was poorly maintained, considering the high use charge. By poorly maintained I mean dirty keyboards and mouse wheels, and in one case an actually missing mouse wheel.
You cannot connect your own laptop to download / upload email or pictures, so plan to have a web based connection for any email. Also, if you were thinking of doing the $0.75 / minute service, please understand that the service is very slow, just slightly better than dial-up. If you are used to a broadband or DSL connection, you need to plan that you will not have anywhere nearly that speed to get email or go to websites.
Finally, please be aware that Disney thinks the "unlimited" use charge is per person, not per stateroom, unlike most cable or DSL providers. Thus they will only allow one logon from the userid at a time. You and a spouse or child cannot be sitting at two terminals and both be logged on, unless you have paid for two accounts.
Overall, I think this is one of the poorer shipboard services. When I spoke to the guest relations manager on my last cruise I was told that this is not a "Disney" run service, but is outsourced, and therefore they do not control it. I suspect that over several years it will get better as more of the senior managers get familiar with email, the internet, but for now don't set your expectations very high.
