Internet options onboard

Just so you know, if you're using an iPhone, there's a “low data” setting since iOS 13 for Wi-Fi networks.

Disclaimer: I haven't been cruising since iOS 13 so I can't say if it really works as advertised.

I know that the average person’s settings on a typical smart phone will eat through the 50mb pretty fast. Im wondering if anyone has worked out a checklist of shut downs to prevent smoking through their data too quickly. If they have, perhaps they would share?

This post on the DisneyCruiseLineBlog fan site has good tips:

On our recent B2B2B on the Dream, we turned off everything we could and we just used the 50 MB package for each cruise, just for checking emails. We had enough data and ran out late on the last full day once. It would not have lasted a 7d cruise for us.

We missed the Connect @ Sea desk being open by a few minutes on our first day so we were given a paper to sign up on our own. That worked fine and I had my DH who's pretty tech savvy turn off everything on my phone that could eat up data. Not sure what happened - he probably missed something - but I didn't click on anything other than the DCL app for days on our trip since I wanted to save that 50 mb for when I really wanted to check FB or something and I went to open it up and my data had already been used up! :(
If you are just using the DCL app and not trying to do anything on the internet, make sure you logout of your DCL wifi account. Keep WiFI itself connected so that the app works
