If I buy the internet package, will I be able to download my photos while on board? I am using Shutterfly and I was thinking this would save me lots of time (and card space) if I was able to download my photos at the end of the day.
Thanks!

You willl not be able to d/l photos al u see is monitor and keyboard...

Either bring other memory cards or
Go to Shutters / photoshop on board
and they will burn them to a disk for about 5 bucks

The individual computers themselves are not accessible to the general public. The reasons are many but mostly it has to do with tampering, security, and viruses.

Last year in July I was on a cruise that had a few pin releases including the lastest Artist Choice and July 4th pin.

I had taken some photos and wanted to send them to a Disney pin trading message board to let everyone know what was released.

The Internet Cafe Manager was nice enough after some friendly persuasion to take the floppy disc and insert it into a computer that allowed me to attach the photos (3) in an email.

He first took the disc, scanned it for viruses on his computer, then proceeded to unlock the computer I would use, insert the disc, and then lock the cabinet until I was done.

I appreciated what he had done, but in reality it is not worth it and not an option.

So if you go to Shutters they will take your memory card and make a disk for you to take home so you can clear some memory? I am NEW to the digital camera thing and we have a lot of memory but by the time we get done with a 4 day stay a WDW I think we may need some more space! Was the Internet lounge very crowded?

Good! I am getting my degree online and will need to use the computers a few times while we are there. Can your bring kids in there with you?

The Internet Cafe is available to anyone. It is next to the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3 Aft. Here is a link that may help - Deck 3

Look towards the back of the ship you should see an arrow pointing to the location. It is a small area that has about 12 or 15 terminals.

I would imagine Shutters would be your best bet to have your photos "burned" to cd so you can clear your memory and take more photos.

Oh, sounds great! I am going by myself and I hate the thought of putting the kids in the clubs all day so I can check some email (although from what I hear, that may be just what they want to do!). I wonder~ do a lot of people do a "Live from....." chat and answer questions? I saw one from a while ago and thought that was a neat idea!

Can't hook up your own laptop for internet use. Some people bring theirs along to download pics everyday.

Does anyon know if all websites -- including those with special security requirements -- are accessible onboard? If I can check work email onboard, I can avoid paying huge ship to shore phone charges.

In addition to the Internet Cafe near the Promenade Lounge, there are also a few stations in the Cove Cafe. On our cruise (8/7/04 Magic) they were quite busy. But then, Hurricane Charley was approaching Florida and people were scrambling for information. As always, YMMV. As for security protocols, I'm not sure. I tend to ignore all business e-mails when on vacation, so I never even gave it a try. You may want to check out Digital Seas for more information.
