Hi,

Staying in VWL later on this month. Are cables provided in the room to go from laptop to the internet or do I need to bring my own? Will be staying in a studio.

Ethernet cables are located in a bag, hanging in the closet.

If you accidently take the cables with you, DVC will charge your account, so be sure they go back into the bag.

The supplied cable is only 6 feet long. If you would like a longer one you will need to bring it with you.

Another tip, if your laptop has wireless built-in you can also use a small wi-fi travel router to give yourself the same wireless freedom you have at home in your home away from home.

We have a wireless router that we leave in our Owner's Locker.

The three of us have laptops so we all can have access on our own computers. We use the cable that Disney provides for the router and then go wireless. And yes, we do secure the router/connection.

I just told my DH about the travel router idea...first thing he said "awesome we can each bring our own laptop" I'll have to figure out how to do a trip report or something.

After reading this thread, we ordered a travel router on Amazon last week. Currently at Disney and the router is working out really well. This afternoon, I updated my trip report while sitting out on the balcony.

Make sure you check that bag as soon as you get into the room. I've often noticed a missing cord so I notify the front desk immediately because I don't want to pay for a cord I didn't use

I just unplugged my wireless router from home and put it in my laptop bag. It is pretty small. It was very cool to have. I did a trip report from the porch while others were napping.
