Coming down 1-20-06 Can't wait. Does anyone know if the DVC properties have internet access in the rooms? Thanks :cheer2:

The on-site at Orlando DVC resorts have wired Ethernet access. The charge is $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours. You could check in, not start / sign-up for Internet 24 hours until 9:00 PM, and then do the following:

Day 1 - Do email and other internet after 9:00 PM
Day 2 - Do email and other internet before going to the parks. Do it again in the evening before 9 PM. All this is on one $9.95 charge.
Day 3 - If you can wait, don't do internet until evening, and you've saved the cost for 24 hours. If not, sign on just before going to the parks in the AM.

Just repeat this routine. While it seems like a small amount of money, it could save you $30 on a one week stay, or $100 if you go for several visits in a year.

Cap (who thinks paying $300 / month for relatively slow "high speed access" is a rip-off).

Or you could use dial up for 35 cents per call. If you have a high speed provider at home they normally provide a set numbner of dial-up hours per month free for travelers, just make sure it is a toll free number from Disney...the 407 area uses a 10 digit dialing sequence for all calls, and not all are "local area"

I have been sometimes able to pick up unencrypted wireless "leakage" at HH from the condos across the bridge. I wonder if VB is close enough to any other developments to pick up other wireless signals. The WDW DVCs are obviously isolated, so its unlikely to pick anything up, although I suppose it might be possible to pick up the Swan & Dolphins free wireless at BWV or BCV. Anyone have ay luck with that?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am very dissappointed that Disney is not wireless across the board. For the money they charge, I would think it would be included-especially since there are so many less expensive places that are wireless at no charge. Do you think it will be comining in the future?

Doesn't bother me at all. There are many "high end" resorts that charge a comparable amount for internet. Cheaper places use it as a "draw." For Disney, the theme parks and other onsite perks provide the draw.

I tried to get wireless "leakage" from S&D at BW to no avail. I did the cheapo dial up for 35 cents a call. I was never even charged for the local calls.
