Internet connectivity at FW

Does anyone know where you can connect your laptop to the internet at FW? Hope it's not down at the main lobby where you check in - that will mean another trip on the bus (with laptop, granddaughter, on-no).

I'm doing the single digit dance.

Sorry, but the reception outpost is the olny place i know of that you can connect

The reception oupost has two (if I remember correctly) hook up points. You must have your own dial up access number (of which I do not have). The CM told me something about a business center where I could go, but I didn't pay much attention. W/ 4 dd's, I wasn't going to stray too far from 'home' and I highly doubt they would have found it fun to accompany me to the business center.

Yep, the only place is at reception outpost. You might want to check with your cell phone provider to see if they have a wireless option for your laptop.

I borrowed one from my boss at work while I was at Ft. Wilderness and it was a lifesaver!! Just being able to get rid of my spam on a daily basis and to take care of a couple of work messages was great I would have had over 2000 spam messages when I got back if it hadn't been for the wireless card.

If we bring our laptop and have a local access number (NETZERO has tons of local numbers and they have 10 hours free time per month) how much does Disney charge to connect? It may not be worth their charge to mess with setting up the laptop away from our cabin.

If you are staying at a cabin, then you can connect using the phone line in the cabin. There will be a 75 cent fee per call for local numbers or 800 numbers.

Most of the questions on this thread have been referring to folks in campsites which don't have phone lines.

If you use your cell phone modem there is spotty service in Fort Wilderness. Some places are better than others, but it was really frustrating to go from DSL to the slow as molasses modem which, if the wind changed direction, might cut you off.

Our experience was that you COULD get online enough to do a quick check of email and perhaps do a little "essential" surfing, but it is not as easy and fast as most of us are used to.
