internet connection at OKW

We'll be heading for OKW next week and I was wondering if there is ineternet connection in the rooms and what does it cost.

Yes there is, but bring a eathernet cable. I think the price is about $10.00 a day.

There are dataports on all WDW resort phones to get dialup access. Make sure your ISP has a local number - you sure don't want to pay the long distance resort surcharge. I use netzero, which has several numbers for the WDW area. You can find which numbers are local on the chart in the front of the villa phone directory. Cost is .35 per local call for DVC members and .75 for other guests.

There is also broadband connection in each villa at OKW. Cost is $9.95 for a 24 hour period- the charge is placed on your room bill. You'll need a network cable, but the resort can provide one if you forget.

We used the broadband connection in SSR on our last trip to WDW in September 04 and a standard e-cable did not work. We had to get the one from the resort which worked fine. We stayed at VWL the week before SSR and a standard cable worked fine.

Seems, the wiring on the e-net jacks in SSR is reversed than which is industry standard.

So if you have trouble with your own interface cable, just call GS and they'll send a cable up to you. There is no charge for the cable as long as you return it on checkout.

Just a note also, the 24hrs is not usage actually online but 24hrs from time you first log on + 24 hrs later as the clock ticks.

Re: KennyK - Standard Ethernet cables do not work -

A standard cat 5 ethernet cable worked for me when I was there in December 04. I forget how much the resort rents them for, but you can buy them just about anywhere around Lake Buena Vista for about $10. I got mine at a Walgren's on 535.
