After reading the thread on the request for money on the baby shower thread, I remembered this blatant request to "Pay for Cynthia's wedding" here: http://www.payforcynthiaswedding.com/

Now that's tacky. There was a request on rec.arts.disney.parks newsgroup a few months ago. A guy requested $ from everyone so he could take his kids to Disneyworld. Sheesh!

Bev "send-me-all-your-money" Hamilton

UGH how tacky!!!

And a $10,000 "bargain wedding" PLEASE!

I agree how tacky. How can they brag about travelling the world and spending lots of money on such extravigant items and then expect people to help pay for their bills!!

Is that cynthiaswedding site for real????? Just when I thought that I've seen or heard it all, something like this comes up. My goodness, what's next?

WOW, that website's funny. They must be crazy.

I think it's legit. I heard about the site from the wife of "snopes" (the urban legend debunking site). I clicked on a few of the links on the page and it does look to be for real.

I think all of you DISers should find it in your heart to send me money for college....and the new 2005 Mustang GT convertible.... :teeth:

My check's in the mail. It should arrive by either tomorrow or when hell freezes over. ;)

I can't imagine sending money to someone for their wedding after reading a web page. If it's someone I know then I might be inclined to do exactly that but to send money to a stranger that I read about on the net? Good gravey, Cynthia could be a 200 lb. hairy dude just making a little money on the side for all we know.

Awwww thanks! :bounce: :hyper: I'll be waiting!!!!!

YUCK
can't belive that web site
Yeah I'll give her some money towards her $3,000 beach house
$1,000 limo, & paying for her uncles plane ticket . get real

I wonder how many people have actually donated to this couple. Who would give these strangers money?

The way I read it was that the actual wedding is going to cost $25,000, but she's hoping for $10,000 in donations. I guess she can cover the balance.

Let's see.... I spent 39.00 on my dress from Cato's, my husband wore a suit he already had. My bridemaids dresses came from Walmart and were 29.00. The flowers and cake were done at Publix, total cost, about 100.00. Had the wedding at a friend's house, the reception at another. My mother and grandmother made all the food. And you know what!? We had a great time and are still married for almost 10 years!!! Wow, this woman should really get a grip on reality. Weddings don't have to be expensive to be meaningful.

OK, lemme get this straight.

For 4 years, Cynthia and her beau spend every dime they make on lavish trips, expensive dining and wine, and a house and now they're begging for a buck from perfect strangers so they can have a "scaled down" $25K wedding with 10 (count 'em, 10!) attendants. Did anybody look at the budget??? $2300 for an engagement ring and $750 for attendants gifts. These people know only one thing - how to spend! My word, let's all start sending cash now for their kids' college funds.

I think I'll pass. But I hope somebody gives her a "clue bag" as a wedding gift :p

yeah, i think these people came to my clinic today. they "couldn't afford" to treat their sick puppy who caught a virus because they "couldn't afford" vaccines. of course i paid for it all myself, cuz i'm good-hearted like that.

They need to change the date from April 16th to April 1st - because that suits them better - they are April Fools.

I notice her quote of the day - "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". I'll bet she's heard PLENTY of not nice things, but she should expect that.

It seems that Cynthia has taken down her begging site. Everything is gone on the webpage except for this statement:

I take my safety and that of my friends and family very seriously, therefore I have removed all content from my website due to some personal threats. It's very unfortunate that there are people out there who have nothing better to do with their lives than harass other people.

Strange.
