Internet at Fort Wilderness Cabins

I did a Search, but the information I found is more than a year old, so I thought it would be okay to ask about this in a new thread.

We have a Cabin at FW in April. We have never stayed there before. I'll have my laptop and will need to do some work during our vacation. It appears that the Cabins are wired for internet, but that you have to hook-up (like at the other resorts). (I see that there are a few wireless hotspots, but I would like to work in the Cabin.)

Is a cable in the Cabin somewhere like at the other resorts or is there more involved? I saw something about renting a cable and modem at the check-in desk in the older threads. Will I need to do that? Do they have plenty, or should I reserve stuff in advance (like with the golf cart)? How do I reserve if that's necessary?

The modems are in the cabins so you should be good to go. You only have to check out a kit for the campsites.

When we stayed in a cabin a few years ago it was $10 for 24 hrs of usage not a big price but just so you know.

Thanks for the quick responses. It's great to know the Cabins are set up like the other resorts. I'm accustomed to paying the $10 for 24 hours that Disney charges, so that will not be a surprise. It was good of you to note it though.

Re: working on line at the Cabin - this most recent trip I brought along a portable wireless access point9AKA portable wireless Router) to hook to the in-cabin ethernet, and was able to work outside on the deck, in the BedRoom, etc. Family with a variety of iThings were also online and happy. Was sufficiently powerful to allow wireless access from our 2nd cabin next door...(use a password). Best $60-75 computer toy investment I've made in a while.

Somehow work is less work on the FW cabin deck...
