Internet Airfare Prices

How often to internet airfare prices change? When I looked at the flights I want last night the price was $216.50 RT. When I checked this afternoon they were up to $244.50. What's the deal? I've never seen them fluctuate that quickly.

They can change many times during the day, but, fluctuation lately has been due to the war and the drop in bookings, they have to make the money up somewhere.

Airfares change constantly. It's a lot like the weather in the midwest. If you don't like it, wait five minutes.

I agree-they change in a metter of minutes sometimes and certainly from site to site for the same flight.

Don't despair! I've been watching the fares almost hour by hour for about 2 weeks (just a little lower and we can fly, instead of a 23 hour drive each way ). The same exact flights have fluctuated from $500 rd/trip to $350 rd/trip, often in the same day. Southwest has a $79 one way (but it's from an airport 2 1/2 hours away), and even that has fluctuated to $99 and $119 just today!

Most airlines assign a certain number of seats at the cheapest fare, then so many at the next fare, etc. So if there are 10 at the cheapest fare and the last one goes in the morning, it will jump to the next fare when you check it in the afternoon.

I've found that sometimes if you are checking fares and don't cancel off the screen, their system will sometimes hold that fare internally and when you try it again a few minutes later it goes up thinking the lower fare seats are gone. Then you check it later and it goes back down.

I was able to get tickets on southwest for june from new orleans to orlando for $112.50 total all charges included. you have to keep an eye on the prices an watch for internet specials.
