Hello all,

I just took a trip in September to the Boardwalk Villas and had a nice time. However, I just wanted to write all of you and let you know of something important. Upon checkout, I noticed quite a few charges on my bill. After looking further, I found the charges were for in-room Internet access. I had to get the front desk to get the charges off my bill being in DVC the Internet is free in the rooms.

After about 15 minutes of the front desk clerk wrangling with someone on the phone, the charges were taken off. I just wanted to write you all to be careful of this charge which you shouldn't have if you are a DVC member and using the Internet in the guest rooms.

I wonder how the computers are programmed for this? During our recent visit the login/$9.95 per day screen came up every 24 hours, with a disclaimer that DVC members would not be charged and the "time remaining" window popped up every time I was online. We were at SSR and then at BWV. We were not charged at either resort. Why did the computer recognize us correctly as DVC members and not you? Your advice to always check your bill is a very good one.

I am staying/renting from a DVC Member on Dec 14 @ Boardwalk and I am wondering if Renters get free internet or only DVC members

Thanks

Hi I am at BWV now and obviously on the computer and it seems to keep logging in on a wireless network...have to tell my husband to watch out for charges....they will take them off right? We will be here for 3 weeks!!!!!!

Are you sure it is a wireless network? What does the screen say? That seems very odd. Wired is free to DVC members but not wireless, as far as I know.

When we were at OKW in August, we kept hitting on a wireless network but not very strong. We never had any charges added to our bill for any internet access.

DVC Management has told me that villa wired internet access is free for anyone staying on points at a DVC Resort. If your room key has the words "DVC Member" on it then there is no charge for the internet.

Double check your room bill when you check out. Removing the internet charges is a manual function that is sometimes overlooked. If you are charged, call the Front Desk and they will remove them.

Wireless access is $9.95 per 24 hour period and is available at WDW Resorts, in the lobbies, common public areas and main pool areas. Wireless is not free for Members.

Yikes!!!!! the only thing that comes up is these little bars on the bottom and says wireless????? no other screen comes up...He was the wire connected and it says wireless connected????? this is very confusing...at home we have slow dial up because we live in the woods and that is all we can get....so as for me I know nothing. When we got here my husband pluged it the cord from the bag in closset and that is what happened? little bars showed up in the tool bar? Guess we will have to find out today...I am having him call now....we have never done this before.
Thank you all as usual...I am glad I asked....Carol

Ok my husband called and was told to disconnect the wireless card connection and activate the wired connection??? I don't know any of this but he thinks it is ok now...we are near the boardwalk so hoping that is just connected thru an uncharged connection thru that. I guess we will see but thanks for pointing this all out so we could do it the right way.....we are clueless about this since we just usually used the dial up service we had at home earthlink number down here and that was fine in the past. Thanks again. Carol

Ok another update...husband went down to front desk..no charges on the room and girl and said there should be non because room in registered as a DVC member but if there were they would be removed no problem and I guess there was no problem thru the wireless connection...she also said there were a few wireless connections at the resort?

Someone may have setup a router in their room and did not secure the connection.
