Internet access at the campground

I know the outpost has internet access, but has wireless internet service been installed at the campground? We are staying in a cabin and I would really like to bring my laptop and have internet service. Thanks!

Just got back and did a wireless search......nothing. I used my AT&T laptop connect card with good results. For the price they charge, you would think they would provide Wifi.

I believe your best option is to rent the modem from the front desk. I think it is $10 a day. I believe there are a couple of hot spots now, but you have to subscribe to use them.

Just got back too, I tried my wireless card. You get signals at Crocket's tavern, but you need to pay to get online. I think it was $10 for 24 hours. I think you can also get it at a site, but there is some specific modem of some sort you need to get from the office. I'm sure that costs something extra also.
If you can drive 10 minutes, you can go to the Orlando Ale House on 535, for FREE wireless access. Plus the $5 pitchers are nice too!
AND the hot fudge brownie sundae is gigantic for $4!!!!!!!!!!

If you are in a cabin, I believe the cable modems are in there already. Just hook up and allow the fee to be charged to your room account.

DVC members JUST got free Internet this year and we pay monthly fees and dues. For what you are paying for a room or cabin, another $9.95 for 24 hours ( that's from the time you first log on - 24 hours ) of Internet access, seems reasonable.

$10 a day is reasonable? I've stayed in Holiday Inns for $59 a night and it's free.

Heck, I have stayed at a campground for $35 and it was free.... for that matter you can go to burger king near here and buy a $1 coke and it's free. Come on, the fort is the best campground, but the really need to get with the times, just about every campground around offers cable and wifi with every full hookup site. And they are about 1/3 of the price.

Agreed RVUSA. Although I hear that Disney is giving all the loops cable from now on. That is according to the guy at the RV show. No word on free internet access. Disney needs to get with the times.

Just a note on the internet... You have to allow charging on your room key or you can't gain access. My kids went to the settlement to try it. It asked for your room key number. I never allow charging on my room key, so they could not get on.

If you want to get on the internet, allow charging on your key.

I completely agree that WDW is behind with WiFi and cable access, and I've made that same argument with DVC.
BUT, let's see, you'll drive for 10 minutes in WDW/Orlando traffic to spend $5 to $10 on fast food for an hour or so of Internet use. OR, you can sit in your camper ( or cabin )( in your underwear or jammies ) spend $10 for 24 hours of continuous Internet use, when, and for however long you want, in that 24 hours. Your choice.

$3.00 for a coke in the MK, $5.00 for an ice cream bar, $10.00 for Internet access, ya I'd say that is reasonable...."Disney" reasonable.

Thats what we are gonna do, DW has an online masters program class she needs to do, and I would go into convulsions if I didn't get my Dis fix every day.

So... you have to buy the air card, plus the $50 for month of service? I assume the air card is around $59? That would make it over $100 for under 30 days! Or is it just the $50 service fee?

You have to buy the card, but they refund it when you return it. So it is only the monthly service contract. It is pro-rated, so if you only keep it for 2 weeks, it would be $25.

Its the same as with cell phones, you can buy one, and if you don't like it you just take it back.

You can get internet access at your site by renting a modem from the front desk there is a fee for the modem plus the daily internet fee. They don't have enough modems for all sites I would recomend you get a modem when you first check in. We use our air card and have no problems. The only problem with an aircard is that you really cannot send pictures through your email it takes forever. But for everything else it is fine.

WiFi is a most I am so surprised Disney does not have it.
