Internet access at AKL?

Hi all,

We are leaving for AKL on Monday (yeah!). We are wondering whether we should bring a laptop. Is there internet access in the rooms? What is the connection speed?

The only access is via a dial up, there are no highspeed connections in any of the room in WDW. I believe there are high speed connections at the various business centers ie, BW, YC and GF. There is an internet phone down near the check-in desk at AKL, if you just need a quick check of e-mail.

There is dial-up access only at the AKL. There is a phone jack on the side of your room phone, no disconnecting from the wall or moving furniture out of the way!

There will be a $ .75 charge for each local call you make.

I connected almost every day of my 12 day trip in December. I was using MSN, and connected on average at 49333 bps. It was OK.

The connection speed might depend on the service provider you are dialing into. (aol, msn, earthlink, etc.)

I thought it was worth it. We were rained out of MVMCP one night, and by logging on to this site, I found out about the refunds that were available.

Thanks for the helpful replies. You'd think Disney, being such an innovator in the parks, would offer high speed room connections as do many other hotels these days. Still, I doubt we'll be doing much web surfing!

WendyKris-- we cannot believe how cold this winter has been . Today it is 39 degrees and people are walking around in shorts and sandals, because it is about 30 degrees warmer than the last few days!! LOL!!
