Hi ladies. I soooooo hope the girls make out better in the next few days! Help is on the way! I see that you've been posting on WDWIP Bonnie and the kids that haven't made it down there yet sound like they'll be a knocking on Shayna's door when they get there. (I hope Brynna makes it into Vista as well.)

Karen, Brynna said she had a chat online today with Shanan, that she sounded really nice and that she was off to visit the parks.

Any idea how the weather is affecting the girls at all? Is it stinking hot yet? Brynna's a redhead, prone to sunstroke. I hope to goodness she ends up indoors or under some cover!

Thanks guys! It's 2:15 a.m. and as you can see, I can't sleep!

Please tell me that holding fast to telling her she has to stay and give this a chance is okay...? I feel terrible but yet know she hasn't given it enough time yet. I'm off to see her in 2 weeks so you would think that would help, but right now I'm feeling like a pretty mean mom!

Morning Bonnie. If it was me, and as much as I missed my daughter, I'd tell her to stick it out as I'm sure it will get better. Especially since you'll be there very soon.

Brynna said she got Shayna's email/MSN from you so hopefully she can touch base with her sometime in the next day or so and try and reassure her as well.

I kind of figured that you would be up till the wee hours Bonnie
Try to not worry toooo much. I bet by the time you get there to see her she will be over this hump and enjoying it much better. They get all hysterical and are ready to give up on things,then when they don't expect to ever like it,they realize it isn't so bad after all! Then WE have to get over the trauma of it all!


Glad that Brynna and Shanan connected yesterday.It's nice to know there's at least a person you can connect with when you get there! I think the fact that more are coming is keeping Shanan going!

Shanan finally made AK and rode Expedition Everest and said it was awesome. Then she went to Walmart got a cell phone and some groceries and that was the end of her 2 days off!! Of course, I didn't like to hear that she did it all by herself because as much as I know you can enjoy your own compnay sometimes...it can get lonely after awhile!! I just don't get 5 girls living together and they don't want to socialize at all, on their days off they stay in and watch TV and have NO interest in the parks or Disney at all!!?? What's the point of being there ? That's the way it is in Shanan's apt and I think that's kind of lousy...but there you go.

Shanan said it is hot there but not terribly humid yet. But then, Shanan loves hot! It's 27 and sunny today. I think they break up there job rotation so that they are inside and outside as much as possible. Shanan rotates about every hour or so...and can be outside the mansion, inside anywhere ie: the stretching room or on the control console and that keeps it interesting as well as keeping her cool throughout the day....

I was just berating Shanan for being inside and not taking advantage of a nice day before she goes to work and she told me she is busy talking to Shayna online! Hahaha....I told her that was ok then...

Hey Bonnie, I saw on WDWIP that you were talking of the hotel rates at WDW in the summer. Can you possibly elaborate on what you know? What % was the discount? I guess if the discount was enough, it would be okay to book a deluxe, could be a better rate than the moderate I've got booked now. (You can PM me if you don't want to post this info.)

Keeping my fingers crossed.......

BTW, how is Shayna doing, is she finding it any easier?

Good morning Marjorie!

I think we may be on an upswing at the moment! When Shayna realized that we were standing firm on her staying put, I think she decided to change her attitude and work on getting over being homesick. I'm down there in two weeks, so hopefully that will help!

When Shayna tried to book us a room for June 10-14 the only resort that came up was AKL which was still over $1000 for 4 nights. I was able to get a value for $99 (I think that's with a pin code) so I'm happy with that. I was just surprised at the lack of availability for accommodations. I guess I thought everything would be available at 50% off!

I think the discounts vary a lot from day to day.....in your case, you had your flight dates set...for me, I will see a deal then shop the resort prices. I guess summer is so busy that they are somewhat limited?

At least you got a good deal all on your own!!

I am still looking furiously for a Southwest deal...saw it yesterday for $155 return so may take that and stop holding out for a $49 bargain!!

Hey Karen!

Yes, we are getting excited! Shayna was saying she saw Shanan last night as they were waiting for the bus and she appreciated Shanan inviting her along last Thursday to go to Epcot! Sounds like they had fun!

I think Shayna is doing okay...it's been an eye-opener for her to see how some people behave at the park!

I was reading a post from an ICPer who has flown home today - she only lasted 5 days!

That's nice that they run into each other here and there and that they had a good time at Epcot. I haven't really spoken to Shanan for more than a minute this week (3 days off in 21 ) but she did say the people she met from Ireland were very nice so that's all good the way I see it! The more nice friends they make the happier they are there and that can only be good for us right? Whew....

Where did you read about someone leaving after only 5 days?? Poor kid...I guess our daughters are doing pretty good then! Such a shame as I am sure they all go there with only the very best intentions and hopes that they will have such an amazing time...really sad

When are you leaving again to go?
The day turned out nicely finally....too much rain of late!

Hi Karen!

Finally in from a very busy day in the yard! We are having a 90 year old dead oak tree removed tomorrow and I've been running around trying to protect my gardens from falling branches!

Shayna was saying that it looks like both girls have the same day off this week, so they are planning on hitting a park. Sounds like a plan!

Yes, this girl named Jen (from Scotland!) was the one who went home. It was posted over at wdwip.com. I couldn't believe it! Shayna said she sent her a couple of emails over the last few days, but had no idea she was having such a hard time!

Hopefully tonight Shayna's going to have her work schedule for when we're there - will help in planning what we're going to do. My mom's really excited to go and I'm looking forward to having some time with her. We've never traveled together like this so it should be fun!

Hard to believe that our girls have made it three weeks ...seems like they keep them busy and their days long...but all in all, I bet they all come home with a great time under their belts!

Hullo ladies. Haven't been on disboards in a bit, was at a conference (cruise-a-thon) in Vancouver for several days. Was great, but very tiring.

Now the panic sets in as we get Brynna ready to go. The last minute items have been bought and we've packed the suitcase with all the towels and linens, etc. Clothes are piled on the kitchen table ready to pack tomorrow night. Thursday is dinner out with us and and a few of her friends. Friday we're off to the Lower Mainland for the night at my sister's and then Saturday down to Seattle

Karen, I spent a good deal of time reading Shanan's blog today. Really enjoyed hearing how things have been going for her in the last while. Sounds like she's having a great time and that she got 2 of the best jobs at WDW!

Brynna heard that they're putting new arrivals in the Treehouses, if they're employed at MK. She's worried but we can't do much about it.

Hope you have a wonderful visit Bonnie and that you get some time to spend together.

I shall have to go and read Shanan's blog because it seems everytime I get to talk to her it's very briefly and I don't get too much of the goods!!!

You don't sell cruises do you?? Because that's what I do! Oh my, could be a small world!

I wouldn't get too worried about the Treehouse's..I am sure they can only accomodate so many there and there's lots of other postions to be filled. Cross that bridge when and if?? Wherever Brynna goes, she has the advantage of listening to all these tales of woe (and joy!) and she goes off well prepared!!

Are you planning to go and see her there!? When is Brynna back again? I know she is later than Shanan and Shayna?

Yes, we're flying out on Saturday morning! Can't wait!

I believe the girls are at AK as we speak enjoying the day! Shayna sounds more upbeat and is looking forward to our visit. She wasn't able to get any time off while we're there, but is working nights. So I've suggested that she just come back to our resort after work, stay with us, and we can all head out to the parks in the mornings!

WOW that came about fast!!!

Can Shayna not even trade a shift with another? That's too bad..but you'll work around it! Does Shayna work those ungodly shifts that have her returning at 4 a.m?? Shanan does..that will be tough for her to come stay with us when we get there in July...I would have to stay/get up and go to get her at her apt and that won't be fun! Plus then she'll need some sleep in the a.m and we'll be raring to go! Not sure on the logistics of this yet!!

What happened to the Polynesian? AK is just as nice...they can eat at Boma too if they are there long enough! Glad to hear they are enjoying a well deserved day off!!!

Have a great trip, enjoy your visit with Shayna and I cannot wait to hear all about it all! Where are you staying? I know you did tell us, but well..it's this memory thing..
