Hi

I just added on at BWV with a different UY, currently my contract goes through rofr so I don’t know if Disney will take it or not.

The contract contains 52 points from 2016 which are banked into 2017.

I hold a reservation for Jan 2018 which uses bankable 2017 points from my other UY.

Normally banked points are not transferable but is there any way I can replace some of the points for that reservation with some or all of the 52 points which expires 2/28-2018?

I’m aware that I could only replace entire nights and not mix the points.

This is ofc assuming the points are available before my banking deadline is reached for my other UY points.

Or is my only option to rent out the points?

As this will be a one time thing it should not be a problem going forward.

Doubtful but it doesn't hurt to ask. Historically when they've made transfer exceptions for different masters of a single owner for points previously banked/borrowed, it's been case by case. In all of the situations I know of, it was where you couldn't do what you needed without the transfer such as where all points had to be in one account (cruise, etc) or to combine points for a single night. Do you have points in your other account that you could use to make duplicate reservations that you could cancel and try to pick up on the other side? If not, it's really not much different than trying to bypass the home resort window by transferring out points after 7 months into reservations made prior.

I have points in my other account, but this is a current reservation that if cancelled most likely won't be available again.

This reservation was made within the 7 month window.

In this case I'm not sue it matters 7 months or not but rather whether it's available or not. You might have to wait list in the new account an/or make alternate plans/reservations. I'd ask, it doesn't hurt, but I'm doubting they will do this. I've worked with them for years with multiple accounts including transferring banked points and more than one transfer per UY, the patterns are consistently when you should be able to do it but just can't with their setup as in the type of scenarios I posted before. Still, I haven't asked for this exact type of exception.

Thanks. I’ll see how it goes and if Disney don’t snatch up the contract. Was kinda hoping it could be done as it was “only” replacement of points.

Please post back your experience if it does go through. There has been precious little info on this exact issue the last few years.

I'd be willing to bet they'll let you do it. I've had the rules bent for me on a couple of occasions already.

I'd also plan to ask but would not be surprised if told no. Exceptions are made so I wouldn't be completely surprised if told yes either, but I'd be thankful as it would technically be an exception.

I'm in a similar situation with a contract in ROFR. If I get the contract I'd like to swap points from the contract for our April 2018 vacation. I am purchasing a VGF contract with 75 banked points from 2016 points will be lost if I cannot do a swap. I was thinking if they did not let me I would have to rent the points out as well. I'd be really curious to see if they let you do it.

Hi everyone

As promised an update.

I called MS twice and first time no dice. The second time the cast member I spoke to offered to do some magic for me. He couldn’t transfer the points but they could however offer to take one of my reservations and cancel it and rebook it using those soon to be expired points from my new memberID. They did however need to unbanked a few of the already banked points from my new memberID to complete the reservation. Afterwards he would bank the points which was freed up from the old reservation.

He promised me that 300% I wouldn’t loose the reservation as their support team would hold it.

I was a bit reluctant as I have heard someone in the past lost their ressi when having MS cancel and rebook but I accepted his offer and got the reservation “move’ to my new memberID and got my previous points banked.

All in all a good solution now that the points couldn’t be transferred.
