I just completed an interesting survey about the Passholder-rate reservation that I made for the Spring. It asked about whether I thought AP rates should be better than general public (uhm, duh), whether I thought Free Dining was better, how I was planning to spend the money saved, whether I booked my first choice or decided on a different resort and the reason. Whether price or atmosphere was more important. Whether I booked those dates due to the discount, etc.

It’s clear that Disney is studying how we are making these consumer decisions and how they can steer us to certain resorts, certain dates, more spending!

That's interesting. I haven't received the survey. I agree, AP rates should be better. We go 4-6 times per year and spend that extra money on nicer meals, special tours and other activities. Disney would probably end up profiting more in the long run offering higher AP discounts since those visitors are more likely to be interested in experiences beyond the basics.

Many years ago, when we were consistent AP-holders, the mouse reached out and offered us a 15-month AP for the price of 12 months if we renewed in a certain time-frame. It seems like the incentives were more prevalent years ago.

Yes to all of this. Because we go so frequently, we are ones who do the extras. And while we are getting a discount on the room (or even staying off property sometimes) we are still coming back additional times and spending money on food and shopping.
