Interesting Souvenir Ideas

Love it - what an awesome idea! X

Agreed!!! And it looks fabulous! It won't work for my DD. She'd need a billboard size frame after her few years of collecting. Walking by a pressed penny machine without inserting 51c is NOT an option to her :rotfl:

We have pressed pennies and magnets, and in the past I collected shot glasses. My favourite souvenirs are our collection of Christmas decorations :D

I started collecting pressed pennies on my first visit, and put them into a wallet. But if I started again I wouldn't be able to walk past a machine without getting one. Although it may be something fun for the kids to do.

I like the idea of fridge magnets. I can give my mum a run for her money then, lol. Charms on a bracelet sounds good too!

Thanks, everyone! :thumbsup2

We have collected year dated mickeys for DS and Minnie's for DD every year since they were born. If we don't go one year we have to find someone who is so we can get one : )

We collect Christmas decorations, have one from each park from the first year and then buy at least one new one from the Christmas shop each trip.

Also buy Christmas holidays from everywhere I go on holiday - I absolutely love getting them all out at Christmas and reliving my memories!!

I was just about to post this! We get an ornament for the tree each time we're at Disney, with the year on it somewhere. We've also collected them from many other vacation spots. Each year when we decorate the tree, it's a trip down memory lane. Love it!

And we do have the fridge full of magnets from every place we've gone. We even do this with day trips or local museums. So we have a sort of diary of all the places we've been, things we've done.

The pressed pennies look great displayed like that! :thumbsup2

Christmas ornaments is a great idea. Some of the other items sound cumbersome for lugging home or a little pricey. Depends on if you are flying or driving and how much you want to spend I guess. Personally I think the cost of even the simplest magnets has gotten out of hand. And I noticed the rings on the key chains has gotten smaller. I bought a Duffy Bear keychain two years ago and I am able to hook it on a knob on a drawer in my bedroom. Earlier this year I bought a Daisy Duck keychain and it doesn't fit on that knob! I think they are skimping and using less metal and therefore the ring is smaller - but the price is still going up. :sad2: Just some observations.

We have a magnet for every park we have visited and also the disney ships we have been on. Good thing about magnets is that every park sells them plus if you put them on your fridge you can look at them every day! :goodvibes

We also have the vinalmations of all the disney parks plus the DCL onces we have been on.

Pressed pennies is a good idea and fairly cheap as well - unless you have 3 kids who all want to collect them, of course :rolleyes:

we did pressed pennies , we started off doing quite a few not realising quite how many pressed penny machines there are we then found pressed quaters and pressed dimes so by the 2nd week pressing pennies we had gotten selective and were choosing 1 design from each machine instead of all 3 !! we have 2 returned with 2 pressed penny books full!! plus over a page and a half of sea world pressed pennies

i did start with pins but on our 1st pin day it cost me $102 so the pennies were much cheaper , we probably spent $ 5 a day doing pressed pennies but it did keep all 3 of them distracted from other souveniers

I collected a few pressed pennies when I went last year, didn't think to buy an album/wallet and had no idea what to do with them when i got home! However they're on my bedroom wall in a frame like this! (Hopefully adding this picture works!)

I LOVE IT !! did you just glue them down

We've never looked for individual park ones, but get one WDW one with the year on it. But I'd be willing to bet they have individual ones as well. There's also the HUGE Christmas shop at DTD. That's where we always go to get our special ornament.

While there, I also let my boys each pick one that's just theirs. It usually has to do with a favorite character at the time, an activity they're involved in, a special memory from that trip, etc.

Thanks for the info! My son's birthday is 2 wks before Xmas so I've made it a tradition that he can pick one from our hol that yr and it's the 1st decoration to be put on the tree which we put up on his birthday. We make a REALLY big thing of it like you see on the cheesy "made for TV" movies at Xmas and he LOVES it! They have a Victorian Xmas fairground near us that we take him to, come home and do the tree, have a family roast dinner then all pile into the living room for a Xmas movie! Getting a Disney one is something that will definitely add an extra bit of magic to his birthday this year! :) :) :)

I always get tote bags - I can't seem to help myself :lmao:

Photo albums are another one;

popcorn buckets; souvenir mugs (the plastic ones you can buy in the parks - like the resort mugs but with park specific designs on - note: they don't come with refills, but I buy them as a souvenir in any event);

pressed pennies (you can get a pressed penny wallet)

coffee mugs - that's another collection I can't seem to exercise any control
over;

Charms!! I have a charm bracelet and buy loads of charms every year :)

Epcot: World showcase - get one piece/pack of candy from each country that is specific to that country

Where do you get the charm bracelets from???????? Oohhhh!!
