My dd got her birthday present from her dmil. Now her dmil is really nice but just doesn't have a club about presents. Usually my dd who is really allergic to perfume gets perfume. She isn't doing it to be mean, she really does mean well but.... Anyway, today she opened her present and got......a pound of butter. She said that she realized that butter was getting expensive so wanted to give her something she could really use. Now my other dd and I have thought really hard about this and have decided for fun to continue the present. I am going to give her some potatos, my dd is going to give her some onions and a bulb of garlic and my ds is going to give her some ketchup. She'll get a laugh out of it.

at least it isnt perfume she can't use. Maybe give her dish soap for christmas. Say hey don't forget about me, gas is getting really expensive too. :rotfl2:

Yikes, that IS an odd present! LoL for keeping the theme going!

Wow. We had baked potatoes tonight with our salmon and I discovered we were out of butter (DH used the last with his tag fairy toast this morning and, I guess, though I'd know through telepathy that we were out). We've paid good eBay money for all that cholesterol :rotfl2: .

Well, since she can't even use the perfume I guess it's an improvement. I'm a glass half-full kind of person; can you tell?

Maybe next year she will get a loaf of bread. Or maybe a gallon of milk :rotfl2:

I don't know if I could control myself if I opened a pound of butter. I know I would at least make some sort of face that would give away my feeliengs. I am very bad about that!!

Believe it or not, every year I get things like:
sugar
flour
bags of macaroni
cheetos
2 liters of pop
toilet paper (yes, that says toilet paper!)
cereal
etc, etc

from my mil for every holiday - Christmas, Easter....

Now that she has 2 other daughters-in-law, we have to draw numbers that she has taped on each item. Yes, there is a number taped to the bottom of the roll of toilet paper. The funniest thing is she aways says, "I can get sugar really cheap at the grocery store, so I bought 5". Ummmmm...I go to the grocery store, plus I don't BAKE! So I have to give away 10 lbs. of sugar every year - that is worth like $5.00, but gets transported 100's of miles! :confused3 :confused3

I knew I was in trouble when the first visit to dh and my first apartment, she knocked on the door, handed me a bag of groceries and left...never saying a word :rolleyes1

Now, I make quite a bit more $$$ than her, I just don't get it. Anyone?
