Check this out for use with Google Earth. If you know anyone flying to the airports listed you can track their flights by height and speed in 3d (sort of)

Although mine doesn't seem to be working today I took a look last night and it was v cool.

ive had that on my google earth for a while but is a big shame that we cant view any orlando airports!!
thanks anyway

I went to the link, but since i don't know the source of the software, i decided to pass this one up.

How exactly?

i haven't downloaded the software (i do have google earth, just not the airport software), so i don't know exactly what you see. But from the description, it seems like a terrorist would love to know the exact position of aircraft approaching an airport (makes missile attacks all that much easier i would imagine).

Google Earth itself is considered a dangerous device in the hands of terrorists. That's why some countries have come to an agreement with Google to limit the resolution of what's shown.

A well resourced clever terror cell wouldn't need Google or Fboweb, these people walk round with blueprints of all sorts of places and flight schedules are easy to come by. The defence services rely on knowing what they have and controlling the situations closely.

Out of interest Beth (Not trying to call your bluff) is there any links to publications on these restrictions, would make interesting reading.

MAny of the images are very old as well. If you check out the Canadian side of Niagara for example (one of the high resolution images) you will see a massive building site - where hotels have stood for a few years.

i'll see if i can find a link for you....there was just an announcement a week or two ago by one country, particularly worried about terrorism, which came to an agreement with google to limit the resolution....

by the way, blueprints are good, but with google earth and GPS you can play not so nice games with your rocket launchers...

Our area has recently gone hi res but next door has grass down which has not been the case for a a couple of years at least. Also there is the flying saucer and blurring of images that google complete on request.

Rob - thanks for posting this! It made interesting viewing :)
