interesting packing ideas

so i have checked all of my packing list online and wondering if anyone had any creative tips for packing. any items that you didnt see on lists and you wish had packed?

One of the things DW has started doing since 9/11 and the increase in luggage searches at the airports is: packing our underwear in Large ziplock bags. That way strangers aren't handeling your undies and as a side benefit they take up less room in the suitcase when you remove the air from the bags.

I use Space Bags for my packing. Like the poster above says, they're see-through, so I don't have to worry about strangers handling my "unmentionables". I can also squeeze more stuff into a smaller suitcase, which makes it easier for me to handle (I never bring any suitcase or bag that I can't manage myself). And, as an added benefit, since they're air and water-tight, they make great bags for dirty laundry and those last-minute wet bathing suits!

Just how strict are they on the luggage?? I plan on packing my son's already wrapped birthday gifts in a suitcase.

Will they unwrap the gifts like they do at the airports?

And also, how many checked bags are we allowed per person??

I bought some of my Space Bags at Target, some at Wal-Mart, and I think I got some online. I use them at home, too, since I have limited storage space in my apartment. I have the travel kind, that you just squeeze the air out, not the kind that you have to use the vacuum with. I absolutely refuse to take my vacuum with me on a cruise LOL!!

Ga Girl - if you are talking about DCL luggge inspection, they will not upwrap the wrapped gift, but if you are talking airport personnel - it is quite possible and very probable that the airport personnel will make you unwrap that gift.

I bought my space bags at Walgreens.

Down side, my luggage was over-weight cause I was able to pack 'too much' into my suitcase.
