Should rare things never be re-released

Be released once or twice a year

Be on sale all the time (they would ahve to be very very expensive to keep them rare... lol)

What is a rare item

I am torn... there are a couple of rare things that I really want, not because there are rare, but because I love them!!!

Yet, I also beleive in the power of trading..... and things being re-released in a way hurts that items trade value. lol

I think, its is better for the vmk economy... just kidding rare items just be sold once or two times a year, it will affect the value but what the heck its a virtual world!! :woohoo:

thanks for pointing it out. I just checked it out. I know I am outnumbered greatly but put my vote in. Never to be released again! LOL.

Even if you have some items you want badly now, think about the stuff you are buying this coming weekend if it was never to come back again.... as the kids say.... @_@

So with patience even a new player would be rich in time. Sure not as rich as someone that has stuff from last year... but hey...

Those of us who do not have green flips now will probably never if we dont get things that become very wanted in the future. 5 Infernos is the going rate for green flips, by next year it will be 6 or 7 or more. If all of a sudden we all knew that the remaining beta wont come back, its worth will rise dramatically and we would have some easier bargaining chips towards those big trades!

LOL the polling results tell a different tale however!!!

I say re-release the stuff from time to time. If things were rereleased from time to time for a very limited time every once in a while, the kids could get what they wanted. There'd probably be less scamming, and less selling this stuff on e-Bay.

Bottom line is, the game should be fun, and while trading is fun, let the people have what they really want :)

I voted never to be released again...

I think that the whole point of "rare" items in VMK is because they were only sold for a limited time. Yes, players can become "rich" over time if they buy extras of special/limited items/pins. I personally would not like any of the beta I own or any rare items to come back because I earned them with other rare items. If you want to release the items at least sell them at a high price so there still is a chance to get them, while the item stays rare. I still do not think they should be released.

Sure the game should be fun but if you want any challenges in it you need to keep things rare and let the players earn things the long way.

I went with never to be released again. To be honset, I am scared to death I will buy Halloween costumes to trade, and they will be worth nothing because they will just release them again in January. Not like this will necessarily happen, but I am just a bit nervous about the whole thing.

Personally, I don't think that releasing items once a year will hurt that much. It will to some extent. But, I'm also thinking of the gouging and scamming that already goes on with things like Stitch, Inferno & green flips.
When people are having to trade away almost everything they have to get just one or two rare items, that is rediculous and just wrong.

thats just the thing though people do not have to trade away almost everything they own it is their choice so i do not thing it is ridiculous and wrong. They are not forced into it, it just depends on if they think well id rather have that than what i already have. I personally are waiting for say stitch hat value to go down as more and more people will eventually have it so it will not be as valuable. Most people i feel trade most of their items for a thing like this because they want it for the fact that not many people do at the moment and they want to be one of those that do.

I think they should never release rare items again, although maybe for say a single day every year and half or so on some items that aren't really classed as the most rare. Also with me saying this i would just like to point out that i am from the uk so i get half the time you do in the U.S. and have worked very hard to get the rare items i have. I would hate for them to sell the items in the shop just because people want them to who probably have not even tried to earn the items by trading and just can not be bothered.

Why should those who have worked hard to acquire those items be stripped of all their hard work by the items coming out in the shop for say a couple of thousand credits.

I don't care a bit about re-sale value or rare items. I just think it is better to make as many people as happy as possible.

Which is why I'm glad it doesn't cost $1000 a person to get into a Disney park, Walt Disney made it as affordable as he could to the most amount of people.

BY that reasoning, the Halloween and Christmas things should NEVER ever be released again and you don't get any at all.

"Rare Items Should...
... Be released once or twice a year."

My two cents.

Keep releases limited to one or two days a year. If for sale, sell at high prices. If in-game quests make sure to put high scoring mini-games in there. Stuff will still be rare.

This gives reasonable chances for the hordes of new players (and some of us who aren't really new, but not old either) the ability to get some of the old stuff. And sure, keep a handful of things in reserve, Holy Grails are great to have... but most all things should be available evetually again and again.

See, I know trading up is possible. But it takes a long time and can be quite frustrating and heartbreaking until you learn the ropes. And there are still some things that I doubt I'll ever get (Inferno... ah... :wave2: )

I've done pretty well myself. But I have advantages that others don't. Finding disboards was a huge help in finding people who want what I have and have what I want. Also, I'm an adult. I have the ability to go to DLR (AP Holder) about once a month to get in-park items which I consider uncommon-minor rare. Finally, understand what many kids don't - the idea of buying specials and expensive, trading several of those for one uncommon. Repeat until you get several uncommon then trade for one minor rare. Repeat to get rare, then very rare, and then finally you trade two rooms full of rare and very rare to get one Sparrow Suit.

But, should any items REALLY be worth that much? I don't think so. But the way VMK is set up, it's the only way to get certain things (like a pirate costume). And I think while most people are fair traders. I think there's a lot of price-gouging greedy people out there. And those can make for some really bad trades to the uninitiated. Some may say That's Life, Learn and Get Over it... but this is supposed to be a game. Something we do to relax and have fun. It's not Wall Street.

Anywho... Thanks for listening. :bitelip:

I have mixed feelings about this issue too, there are some rare and beta things that i would really like such as the yellow and pink shoe chairs and blue leota table, but not bc they are rare.. bc i like them. I think that a resale of the items about one weekend per year and for VERY high costs say at the space shop where not alot of ppl have access to would not have that much of an impact on their value, but it would help those of us who have not been on vmk since day 1 to get the things we want.

I voted ''once or twice a year'' bc i know that those ppl who have the items worked hard to get them but i work hard too and the stuff that i try to trade for is so overpriced. I think that most of the reason why they are so rare is bc ppl are often greedy and ask alot from traders who want their stuff, also ppl have alot of a rare items stored somewhere so everybody will be awed. one girl i saw even had like 50 firewalls in her room and said she would not accept anything less than inferno even for 1 stinking firewall. also i have overheard ppl in trade rooms talking about inferno like i talk about say.. a purple carpet chair, they say stuff like: i figure i should be able to get about three infernos for this and that. I could not ever imagine talking like that, i would have to trade all of my rare furnishings and costume pieces for half of an inferno by how much ppl want for them these days.

Now i'm not saying rich ppl should give out free stuff or anything bc i completely disagree with giving out free stuff, ppl do work hard for what they have and so should other ppl. all i'm saying is that for those of us who have five siblings and have to take a plane to get to the nearest disneyland park and don't have ''advantages'', that you could afford to give us a break once in a while. Just try not to be so greedy and demand prices that nobody can afford, just be fair. bc be honest, for those ppl who have like 8 dancing infernos in their signatures. have 4 full trade rooms and 2 stitch hats; do you really NEED to rip off all of ppl's rare!? and who under the sun really needs ten infernos anyways? i would settle for one!

In conclusion i'm saying that if ppl were less greedy and these items were sold only very seldom it wouldn't hurt the value that much and ppl would be less inclined to cheat or scam, aslo alot more ppl on vmk would be happy with what they have. :cloud9:

uh.. wow i went alot of topic there. sorry for wasting alot of space! :guilty:
maybe i should just start a rant thread, :rotfl:

I actually sent the "black hole" an email about the subject.

"The choice is really to either make a few people happy by never releasing the rare things, or make the most amount of people happy by releasing some rare every few weeks. There is enough “rare” in the game now you could release it once a year and still keep it rare. Plus I don’t think anyone expects you to release it all at one time.

If you release one rare costume and one piece of rare furniture once a month,
say - for the first month a blue princess dress and a green rocket couch,
then the second month you release the purple superhero costume and a gold candlestick,
then the third month you release blue Mickey ears hat and blue HM table,
you are still only releasing each item once a year but you do release “something rare” every month.

I will always vote to make the most people happy."

You know, I don't mind *so much* that they never answered me personally but it would make me feel like someone was listening to me if I were to just get an automatic email back saying "hey we got your email." I really feel that no one is listening to us and no one cares back at VMK Central. :sad2:

I know exactly what you mean, when you ask them a question on the contact us link at the vmk site you either never get a reply or get an automated message saying that your mail was received. i always feel like they didn't actually read my message, or even care about what i am asking them. I always say to them please read my message and think about what i have written, but i almost never even get an automated message.
Also i have suggested the word ''vegetarian'' for the dictionary numerous times but they haven't added it yet. Even though all of my vegetarian friends on vmk have suggested it as well. I don't understand how it could be taken out of context and it would be so much easier and less offensive then saying : '' i don't eat meet'' in our signatures.

this vote could very well change the way the game is handled. It would be nice if the people could vote and have the outcome be valid.

Just because you can do something, doesnt mean you should. ;)
