I was printing out the coupon today for our trip next week and below the coupon they have the following statement

"Our rates does not include driver's gratuity. Please take care of the gratuity each way because you might have a different driver on your return."

We do that anyway, but if anyone had any concerns on whether they should split the tip, this lets you know for sure.

I am going next weekend and was looking for the coupon tonight. Noticed that they say to tip 20% minimum. If they are going to tell you how much you have to tip, I would rather they just include the gratutity in the rate.

We are going in August and using Tiffany - do we just print the coupon and give it to the driver?

Mimi Q....I never noticed that before, I wonder if they added that recently or if I have just not seen it. It's kind of tacky to put (min 20%) The amount of the tip should be at your discrection. I have always gotten good service and I do tip 20%, but if I get bad service I surely would not tip that much,

eljojo....yes just print the coupon and give it to the driver that picks you up at the airport.

All Limousine Services state there is a 20% gratuity. I see nothing wrong with that. They provide a great service and even make extra stops for your convenience. It's worth it not having the extra anxiety of driving to and fro....

Websters Definations for the word gratuity

Something voluntarily given in return for a favor or service, as a recompense or acknowledgment.

A favor or gift, usually in the form of money, given in return for service.

a relatively small amount of money given for services rendered (as by a waiter) [syn: tip, baksheesh, bakshish, bakshis, backsheesh]

an award (as for meritorious service) given without claim or obligation

The amount should be based on the quality of service provided, not what a company expects and demands. And I disagree with the above poster, not all limousine services provide a "great service" which is why my family always rents a car now.

Exactly my sentiments! Perfectly stated. I am beyond irritated that tips are routinely expected any more no matter the level of service received.

Was it stated that you had to tip 20% or was it suggested that the appropriate amount is 20%? Often the suggestion is there to assist some folks that don't realize that it is a tipping situation and for those that don't really know the proper amount.

Gail,It states Minimum 20% tip for the driver. This is the norm for most Limousine Services.
Disneylvr, I was stating they provide a great service in the sense that you can leave the driving to someone else. Not that every limousine service was great.I have always tipped over the 20% required gratuity....
If anybody doesn't like paying the required gratuity then do what Disneylvr does and rent a car!

Do you tip 20% on the entire amount both ways? Or do you tip 20% on half of the cost of the towncar each way? Like if the total rental cost was $80.00, then a 20% tip would be $16.00 so divided up, it would be $8.00 each way? Or is it 20% on the total amount for each driver?

Hope the above makes sense LOL, as I am getting confused just writing it out!

Figaro,

I was just thinking the same thing.

We have never used a towncar service before and have reserved Tiffany for our June trip.

I think a lot of companies do post the % of gratuity for newbies like myself. But I was unclear on if you split the tip or not?

Guess I'm a country bumpkin... ::yes:: LOL

I recently called Tiffany and inquired about a Limo, not a TownCar. I was told they now include the %20 tip for Limos.

Yes, you should split the tip as you might have different drivers.

Take the total cost of the service, calculate the tip and divide by two.

We haven't ever had bad service from the drivers we used. Used both Mears and Murray Hill. That being said, 20% is only about $16 for a trip from MCO to WDW. So splitting it is $8. Not at lot when you consider the convience of them doing the driving. We always tip $10 one way if service is good, $15 for the great driver. The ones who handle you luggage, open doors and are just friendly nice people. I don't think any company "demands" a 20% tip except the ones who would add it in the cost.

We usually tip $10 each direction.
