I was reading a little something about fastpass on a website and it brought up a thought.

When using a fastpass line, is the que area theme the same as the stand by line? Take for instance. If you get a fast pass for Big thunder Mountain. Do you see the same que area as the stand by line as you in the fastpass line? Originally the que area theme was meant to have something nice to look at as you wait. It was also designed to rise you anticipation for the ride. Now with fastpass, you are in line for a shorter period of time. Does the fastpass line go through the same themed area or is the experience different, do you see a different que area compared to the stand by line?

When we went to WDW last late April / early May 2003 the lines were very short and never had to use fastpass. I'm used to waiting in line and enjoying the que area for a short period of time. Well for us on Pirates of the Carribean and Test Track we walked right on and didn't get to enjoy the que area ambiance. I was just curious if the fastpass lines were bypassing the theme area.

Please give me an answer to this question or you opinion on this.

thanks,

Hey cajun, you seem to have everyone stumped! I would think it is the same, but I have motion sickness so I don't do a lot of the FP rides. I know at the Safari in AK you walk right next to the regular line when you have FP so you see the same things, just not as much time to really look at them. The same can be said for the Jungle Cruise. I don't know about the coasters, maybe someone else can answer. DH and my oldest DD did FP for MS and TT last trip, I can ask them but DH is not as observant as I am so he may not really know!!!!

Yes usually you exerpeince the theme queuing For instance at Test Track you enter the same building. In thunder mountain you run concurrently with the stand-by line for a while I can't think of a line where you don't go thru the scenery of the line.

Hope that helps

*Edited* for clarification

In my experience all of the line areas are the same. For the FP lines you just generally go straight through in a separate line or wind around only one or two times, instead of through the whole queue area. In the FP lines, your only wait is generally at the loading area or maybe a short wait where they are checking FPs and combining the FP line with the standby line just before the boarding area. You still see all of the same stuff, but you're usually just passing by.

We had FP for Maelstrom, and I know that we bypassed a good bit of the line - we went down a corridor and merged right at the end (there was a tall wall hiding us from all the other people who had been waiting for an hour, which I thought was very sensitive and nice of WDW to arrange). So there was probably theming that we didn't see, and I wish we had - because I burst into laughter when we 'pulled up' to see the movie part, and realized that THAT was the famed Maelstrom. I mean, talk about a let down (although the movie was nice).

I guess it depends on the ride.

I think Test Track is the worst at WDW. Yes, you go in the same builidng but you don't get to look at each test station in the fast pass line.

Actually Universal is the worst. On many of the Universal rides, using the FOL access you get when you stay on site, you miss the que theming almost completely. I would ride again in the regular line just to see what was in the que.

I really all depends on how the ride is laid out. For TOT you are side by side with standby the whole way. I thought that ride had some of of coolest things to check our while waiting in line, so we actually did do it standby once.

Rock and Roll you just bypass the area where people are waiting outside the building and go straight to ramp.

You do miss alot if you fastpass test track. We waited for a long time in standby for that ride, but there was a lot of cool things to see. Fastpass lane only sees a couple of the exibits.

Another one that you miss alot of que is mission space. We fastpassed this ride and I could tell that there was alot of things in the building we did not see.

Space Mountian seems as if the fastpass line went side by side with standby as well.

Those are just a couple that I remember clearly

Most WDW FP lines are side by side with the stand by-line.

At USF-IOA there is a lot less themeing in some of the Express lines. They take a side hallway or staircase to the attraction. You miss alot with Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Mummy, and MIB.

Actually, the Safari FP lane bypasses most of the regular cue.

I'm guessing most attractions built before FP's conception had designated an existing lane as FP afterwards...whereas attractions built after FP have had their cue designed with a separate FP in mind. Safari was the first attraction to use FP, and was designed with a separate entry/shorter cue.
